We have talked about Cabiria before, this Kickstarter Plus Size line that was successfully funded, but Cabiria outdid themselves being the first to show on the schedule for NYFW. The Box at Mercedes Benz New York Fashion week was filled packed with people for the Fashion Law Institute show.

I was aware several designers were being shown but I was specifically there to see two. The air was thick with expectation and excitement for what was about to walk down the runway.

Most of the anticipation was for the Eden Millerโ€™s Cabiria collection as it would be the first plus sized line to ever show at NY Fashion week.ย  This historical moment of curvy finally showing up added a touch of real life to a fashion week filled with stick figures and sample sizes.

Eden stepped into history serving the runway with beautiful models and bold graphic prints to match. From the stripped maxi to the hip hugging dresses and print skirts, Eden gave us a glimpse of her ideals of fashion.

The collection spoke to a week in a womanโ€™s wardrobe easily taking her from day to night, from work to play, and from the work week to the weekend. The separates can easily be incorporated into any wardrobe and paired with many outfits.

After reading the varied mixed reviews about the collection, I am left with a few thoughts and reflections. Yes, her collection was sweet and classic, not whimsical, nor overtly imaginative, but what it WAS, was a first. A plus size brand on the schedule. A plus size designer who gave fashion week a glimpse into her world with models who rocked out in various sizes and hues. A first in showing that we can represent. A first in showing other plus size designers that they can do it too.

I am intrigued at the next steps we see in the inclusion of plus size fashion, the art, interpretation, the professional strides, and the growth of the industry as a whole.

ย Hopefully, this is not the last time we see Cabiria at Fashion Week as her dose of aesthetics and real womenโ€™s ware are more than a desire; it is an absolute necessity.

What collection? All is see are a bunch of mismatched dresses that arenโ€™t fashion forward. The models look unprofessional. I hope that this designer gets it together for the next collection, and knocks everyoneโ€™s socks off!

I loved this! Her collection looked great and featured clothing that wasnโ€™t (1) frumpy, (2)predictable and (3) unattractive! The silhouette enhanced rather than detracted from the modelโ€™s body! I agree that the fact there was a first show for larger size women in a mainstream show is a big plus!
