Need a little inspiration? We are kicking off Plus Size Bridal Week with a spotlight on YOU, the plus size brides who took our breath away and stunned on their big day!
“Accessibility” is a significant keyword when it comes to plus size fashion. As it isn’t considered “standard,” designers must work twice as hard to showcase a curvy girl’s beauty! Thankfully, we have more than a few plus size brands like L I V D to help along the way.
Who is L I V D?
The new LA-based online retailer is filling the void more by using social media and the internet to reach the entire U.S. with their sassy styles!
“It’s crazy to think that there aren’t many fashion forward designs available to plus-sizes. Most of the eye-catching designs are reserved for its contemporary counterparts. Fashion retailers like Revolve and Topshop don’t even carry anything larger than a size XL,” said Jim Lee, co-founder
of L I V D. “It’s difficult finding manufacturers who make sizes larger than 3X or even split up into numeric sizes. Even when you do, the clothes are hardly revolutionary or as exciting as the clothes offered in a size 12 or less.”
Word! Lee decided to take it upon himself to supply what he saw was missing in the fashion industry. Given the fact that the average American size for a woman is a 16-18, of course it makes sense that the fashion-forward concept includes a curvy woman!
As such, Lee and the L I V D team spent countless hours in Los Angeles showrooms to bring that couture look to the average American woman! The operation may be small in size (it’s run by their family), its impact on the plus size fashion industry is about to be huge!
