Me and My Hair and My Sally Beauty Tools I Use

Sharing is caring!

Disclosure: This is a Sally Beauty sponsored series post, but my experiences, usage of product, and excitement are all my own.

A few of you have asked me about my hair, how I take care of it, style it- among other things and let me first share with you, I ROCK WEAVES. YES… I had to make sure that this was clear. Hehehe.

I do! And for more clarity, I am rocking my Indique Sea FIJI Curl in 16 inches– Hey boo! BUT for styling and care purposes, I wanted to share with you some of the products and tools from Sally Beauty I use to get her done.

When I wash? I wash every few weeks.

But I do more of a rinse when I wash my curls and do so in the shower. I have used Cantu, Pantene, and as of late, I am playing with Design Essentials.

I like to try different brands to see which will lay the curls right (plus depending on the texture and brand of hair, each reacts differently, so I keep a mix on hand!).

After I wash, I definitely do a leave in conditioner. I cannot have the curls looking like a fluffed out poodle (although they are cute, that look isn’t for me).

So, I play with my Design Essentials Leave in Conditioner while the hair is still damp. I mean, it is made for natural hair and with my hairstyle? This works for me.

Depending on the weather and time of day, I either air dry (sometimes looking like a Soul Glo commercial) but when I am heading out later in the day or I know it is not warm enough to fully dry, then I rock out with a dryer to dry my scalp because mildew hair is NOT the business!

To work this out, I play with my CHI Elite Dryer, that I got from Sally Beauty, and dry the base of my head. I do not pay too much attention to the hair although I may at times want to go through the hair a few times…

It all depends on how late I am running. But I have been playing with the Design Essentials defining Crème Gelafter I dry my scalp and while the hair is still damp.

I like it because it smells like cake, gives a great curl, and a little goes a long way!

PLUS! I smell all delicious and stuff! Hehe.

After all dry, I fluff out the curls to my liking; because you know I like the hair big!

I give a shake, shake, shake and I am out! I love the weaves because they are easy for me (READ: I am tender headed and cannot handle too much fuss).

The next few days I spritz the hair with water and a bit of the gel and keep it moving!

Do you remember Sally Beauty? MAN this was the first beauty supply I ever went to. I would tag along with my auntie and she would get her discount (on the other side of the barcode) and I would stock up with her.

That is still with me as I get all of these from Sally Beauty and right now, they are having a mega Styling Tool Blowout Sale (I love a great SALE!) with more than 100 styling tools on sale this month!

  1. How long does it take for your tracks to dry? I’ve avoided weaves because I sweat a lot & have to cleanse my scalp at least every 2 weeks.

  2. Have you or anyone here tried the “vixen” install method? Weaves and wigs can be fun protective style.
I just started using cocniut oil on my hair after washing or cowashing it. I’m all over Sally’s for small section clips , Bobbi pins, and wide tooth ciombs for my very thick and curly natural do.
