The Curvy Artists Collective BOPO Show, which premiered in Los Angeles, is back in town! On Friday, November 17th, The Curvy Artists Collective, a body-positive organization for plus size-identifying artists, is hosting a two-fold event to whet your plus size shopping and entertainment appetites.

The team at Curvy Artists Collective feels that there is “still a major lack of body inclusivity in the arts, and while progress is being made, it is moving far slower than [they] would like.” So, they set out to be the change we want to see with an event that celebrates and centers plus size artistry!

Founded by curvy artists Marlee Dater and Lauren Baez in September 2019 (and joined by Poohnana Brown in May 2022), Curvy Artists Collective (CAC) is “a collective for women/non-binary/femme curvy artists in the arts.”

The BOPO show promises to bring us a “night celebrating body positivity in music featuring up and coming plus size artists!” Featured artist performances in the LA event include Elle Baez, Josey Omo, Lexie Martin, and Music by Chel!

This event stands to be a fun time, especially on the heels of their successful New York BOPO event!

In addition to the good vibes and great music, the BOPO Show is hosting a pre-shopping party before the show at The Plus Bus!

The BOPO event provides a safe space for people of all shapes and sizes to feel proud to embrace their bodies, feel seen and validated, and be in community with the greater plus size community.

If you’ve been looking for an opportunity to experience the full luxe shopping experience that often eludes the plus size shopper, head to the Curve Collectives Designer Sale. Featuring contemporary, high-end, designer plus size fashion, this event gives you the chance to feel and shop pieces sized 10-32 before you buy them.

This plus size shopping experience will feature established plus size designers and brands such as BAACAL, byVINNIK, Pari Passu, Creative Curve Consulting, Kat Eves Curated, Melissa Mercedes, Octavia Morgan, Sante Grace, See ROSE Go, and Mayes!

Intentionally scheduled before Black Friday and Small Business Friday, this event speaks to the challenges and opportunities that are missing in the plus size space. At The Collective, they believe in “fostering an environment of inclusivity & support for the luxury designers that create & have inspiration for us. When the plus community takes the initiative to create space for the brands that cater to our community, we cultivate & perpetuate success – “rising up” together.”

Regarding what you can expect for the event, the Curve Collective shared, “Our initial Collective brings an in-person luxury shopping experience of carefully selected clothing up to a size 32. Shop exclusive samples, archival, vintage, new, one-of-a-kind pieces, as well as designer accessories, bespoke jewelry, & opulent fragrances.”
