Another beloved plus size store has announced that it is closing its doors. Arula (formerly known as A Beautiful Soul) announced on May 29, 2025, that they would be closing. Arula, a sister store to Altar’d State, sold women’s plus size clothing, shoes, and accessories, while Altar’d State only sold straight sizes.
Arula’s closure is a big blow as their style leaned more bohemian towards the end of their operation. Plus, they have been around for years, displaying styles adored by everyone. The store changed its name to Arula just four years ago, in 2021, when a rebranding occurred. It was a time of hope and excitement for the future of the brand.
In a statement put out by the brand on May 29th, it reads:
“After seven years, we’ve made the incredibly hard decision to bring Arula to a close. We are gratefule for every try-on, every tagged photo, every kind word, and every moment you let us be part of your life. We’re grateful for your support, your stories, and the community we built together. Thank you for being part of it. With love, The Arula Team.”

While the brand never announced the exact reasoning for Arula’s closure, many shoppers believed it to be due to financial reasons. Arula only had a few physical shopping locations and did most of its business through online sales.
Arula has also deleted all of their social media, but their website currently remains active. Sales have started on the remaining merchandise, but it has not reached the significant deals quite yet.

It is sad to see another beloved plus size store leave, but if you have had your eye on a certain something from Arula, this is the perfect time to score a good deal on it.
