The National Organization for Women, affectionately known as NOW, along with the vivacious The Chenese Lewis Show Radio Host, Chenese Lewis, brought us a celebratory event to relish in our curves, just the way they are with the 4th annual Love Your Body Day, in the heart of the sensationalized beauty conscious city, Hollywood.
The minute I stepped into the scene in my new role, as the On the Scene Editor for SKORCH, there was a warm and engaging setting. Vendors and organizations dressed the outskirts of the auditorium, Plus Model Magazine’s Model Search kicking off to the right, and an attention grabbing stage and runway properly setting the mood for the day’s events straight ahead.
The event’s host, Lisa Anne Walker, executive producer of Dance Your Ass Off, emceed the event. Asides from Lisa, the whos who of west coast plus size fashion arrived in style to show support for Love Your Body Day. Rhasaan Perry and Daniel Line, both Svoboda sisters, Joy Nash, Maggie, Love Nati, Reah Norman and the day was just beginning.
I was elated to see the lovely Maddy, from Plus Model Magazine, who I hadn’t seen since Full Figure Fashion Week, along with the statuesque Mia Amber who worked the crowd.
Bay Area’s Heart’s Desire Jewelry, Body Magic, fashions by Melissa Masse and S.W.A.K., along with the Miss Plus Top Model Awards dazzled the onlookers with their products that catered to the curvy and confident ladies. Kev Bailey Photography raffled off a photo shoot (I secretly wished I would win- but to no avail!)
Taking the stage to woo us with her sweet and sultry vocals was none other than SKORCH columnist, Natalie Ferraro, affectionately known as Love Nati! As she enchanted us with her vocals, I bumped into the sassy Lauren, a model who I met in New York! (I am telling you- everyone came out to show love!) Popping up with a snap here and there was none other than Inez Lewis, the renowned photographer for the sensual and sexy plus size fashionista! (still waiting for the Bay Area tour!!)
The owner of Hips and Curves came out along with a producer looking to bring something fresh and new to the world celebrating plus size lifestyle from an empowered perspective (insert jumping for joy!)
The ladies from Dance Your Ass Off performed a dance number for us after updating the crowd with their current adventures! They looked Ah-Ma-Zing! And they gave the crowd fierceness through their dance number!!
The finale, that was very well executed, accessorized, and styled by the exquisite Reah Norman, was the Fashion Show.
Models included one namers:
Ayanna, Brandi, Ivory May, Joy, Madeline, Melissa, Maggie, Mia Amber, Michelle Reene, Nancy, Natasha, Queanna, Rene, Robin, Sasha, and Teresa.
The show incorporated fashions by sassy dresses by SWAK, fresh denim dresses and new cuts by SVOBODA, playful and fun swimwear by Always for Me, bold and sexy with B.G.U., wear to work chic by Igigi, designer attitude with Melissa Masse, evening foreplay by Sydney’ss Closet, innovative sex appeal with Tru Diva, and a fabulous breakout fashions by Plusologie!
The event was an amazing success! While there were many more models, designers, moguls in their own right present at this event, the feeling to be taken away was that of community and celebration!
Chenese, job well done love!!! Amazing !!!
