Every fashionista’s favorite event consists of four words: New York Fashion Week. Though there are a lot of public events happening during this lovely time, a lot of NYFW is wrapped in exclusiveness, especially when it comes to high fashion brand shows. Well, NYFW is inching more toward inclusiveness because Torrid will be presenting at NYFW: The Shows this September 12!
Torrid will be joining over 70 shows flaunting Spring/Summer 2018 collections. We found out that Torrid’s collection will feature pieces with edgy rock n’ roll and romantic boho themes as well as key details such as hand embroidery and painted elements.
“As a brand that is committed to helping all customers find her personal style, we at Torrid feel it is important to showcase the diversity of plus offerings on the most influential stage in fashion,” said Torrid CEO, Kay Hong. “Ultimately our objective is to show great fashion combined with body positivity and inclusivity.”
“IMG is proud to welcome Torrid to NYFW: The Shows,” said Catherine Bennett, Senior Vice President and Managing Director of IMG Fashion. “We appreciate the brand’s commitment to size inclusiveness and body-positive message and believe they are an excellent partner as we continue pushing the boundaries of the fashion industry.”
Further, Torrid will be hosting a showcase for the brand’s third annual Model Search competition, using its runway show as the semi-final competitive round for the top 10 finalists.
Talk about diversity and inclusion!
Judges for the competition will include designer and Project Runway winner Ashley Nell Tipton, celebrity makeup artist Pricilla Ono, and supermodel Candice Huffine.
Sounds like a blast! Torrid is known for its edgy and risk-taking style, so the fact they are incorporating a non-standard component into their runway show while making plus size history makes all the sense in the world!
Go, Torrid, go! Ladies, get in formation: who will be attending NYFW this fall? Will you be checking out the Torrid show? Looking forward to seeing the new collection!!
