With news about new junior plus size collections, the latest plus size designers serving it, and the newest colors for spring, putting it all together can be a bit overwhelming- right?
Well, to help you out, with the help of Tormented Sugar on the illustrations, we have gathered up some of the top trends for spring and are sharing our faves!
This spring, there are some great evolutions from Fall, definitely a few surprises with spring leather and suede (which I am here for), a few blasts from the past with nods to mod, the 70s, and boho luxe! I will take all of the denim on denim on denim iterations as well as a few of those rompers! Give me my playful gingham prints as well as bold spring florals- I am here for it all Well, let’s start the slideshow to share with you what to expect for spring! Are you ready?
The Spring 2015 Plus Size Trends:
Ranging from the demure and sweet to the bold and intentional, floral prints are back for spring with a vengeance. No stranger to spring trends, this year’s floral trend encompasses both the light and airy to the dark and moody. As the temperatures rise, the flowers do bloom! I need, I think, a floral suit… yes. A shorts suit. Maybe I will get it!?!
Touching on the 70’s and Boho trends, I am here for this one as it is quite exciting. Actually one of those trends that made me perk up! No stranger to a fall trend, suede and leather take a new spin for spring and is so welcomed in my closet. Brought in bright whites, blues, and pinks, this seasons suede and leather is more than just the jacket! Chloe, Gucci, Derek Lam and Michael Kors gave us suiting, dresses, and playful sets! This shall be fun!
Taking a note from the 70s influences, this trend showed itself in a variety of ways! Not the rock of the 80s, but the 70s! Think Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones! Think metallic, fringe, leather, bold textures and prints, as seen on the runway by Pink Tartan, Moschino, and Tom Ford.
Every few season’s gingham comes back with a sweet and playful style, but for THIS spring, there is a fun and polished vibe to this playful palette! You can expect to see this in whimsical and chic dresses, full midi skirts, and sharp jackets and suiting- all reminiscent of DVF and Altuzarra. I am excited about this one; already have a few gingham pieces!
Denim rocked out in various ways on the runways of Chloe, Gucci, Fendi, Saint Laurent, and quite a few more. Think jumpsuits, varying styles of skirts, and even suiting! There is a sophistication, polish, and style to denim this spring that has me more than a little excited. Give me my denim blazer please!
More than just a maxi dress, this season’s version of Boho is bit more romantic and sweet. Think of playing in the most flowy, dreamy, and feminine shapes that are both comfy and chic! Woot! I am here for this, actually, it is both funny and hilarious for me, as Boho Luxe used to be my life. Now I have a reason to bring the maxi dress drama!
Think flare jeans and flower power. The 70s have returned for spring. There is an ease and a refreshing adaptation to this spring trend that will bring us lace, crochet, and flowy maxi dresses but on the other hand, we have spring suede, leather, and fancy pants in vibrant hues and patterns!
You see what I mean? How much fun is this going to be? I already know that ASOS Curve, Anna Scholz, CarmaKoma, Nordstrom, Boohoo, Missguided and quite a few others will be on top of things to ensure we are stylin’ and profilin’.
What is even more exciting? Is that the plus size designers and retailers are giving it to us ON TREND, not two seasons later… hehehe. We indeed have come a long way!
