If you’ve been craving a plus size fashion event that feels equal parts community gathering, luxury shopping experience, and fashion insider dream? Mark your calendar now, because The Curvy Pop Up is about to become the place to be in Los Angeles.

Taking over the Arts District on May 16, The Curvy Pop Up is bringing together a collective of independent size-inclusive designers, celebrity stylists, vintage archives, influencer closet sales, and fashion lovers for a shopping experience built specifically with plus size and mid-size shoppers in mind. And honestly? It feels refreshing to see an event centered on us in a fashion landscape that has increasingly pulled back on size inclusion.

At a time when plus size shoppers are watching beloved brands disappear, extended sizing quietly vanish, and luxury fashion continue to feel out of reach, this event feels less like a pop-up and more like a statement.

Because plus size fashion lovers deserve access to beautiful clothes, emerging designers, archival fashion, and spaces that actually prioritize them.

A Fashion Collective Created By and For Plus Size Women

The Curvy Pop Up features an impressive lineup of contemporary designers including BAACAL, Melissa Mercedes, Zelie for She, Viva Voce, and ByVinnik.

Leading the charge is designer Cynthia Vincent, whose work in fashion spans decades. Known for launching labels like VINCE and Twelfth Street by Cynthia Vincent, Vincent created BAACAL after struggling to find elevated fashion in her own size.

And honestly? That lived experience matters.

“We’re thrilled to band together as creatives and designers, who have dedicated our work to designing for and by plus size women at a time where representation of curvier bodies has all but disappeared from fashion,” Vincent shared.

She’s not wrong.

Over the past few years, we’ve watched brand after brand scale back plus offerings while simultaneously asking plus size consumers to remain loyal. So seeing independent designers create their own ecosystem of support, visibility, and access feels deeply intentional.

Yes, You Can Shop Celebrity Stylist Archives in Plus Sizes

Now let’s talk about the part that made us do a double take.

Celebrity stylist Timothy Snell, whose client roster includes Queen Latifah, Whitney Houston, and projects with Tyler Perry, is opening up his fashion archives for shoppers.

Not replicas. Not “inspired by.” Actual archival and custom designer pieces.

According to Snell, attendees can expect custom commissions and archival looks from designers including Gucci, Dior, Roberto Cavalli, Alexander McQueen, and Sergio Hudson… in sizes 14, 16, and 18.

Read that again slowly.

Luxury designer fashion in extended sizes is already difficult to find. Archival celebrity-styled pieces in those sizes? Nearly unheard of.

“If you’ve always wanted to browse and shop Gucci and Dior… in sizes 14,16,18, you won’t want to miss it,” Snell said.

And honestly, he may have just sold half of Los Angeles with that sentence alone.

More Than Shopping, This Feels Like Community

Beyond the designer racks and celebrity archives, The Curvy Pop Up is also spotlighting influential voices in size inclusive fashion through curated closet sales from stylists, models, and creators.

Attendees will also be able to shop collections from celebrity stylists and fashion insiders including Adriana LeBaron of Shop Aartukovich, Flossy by Jihan, and ARIA SAID STUDIO, alongside closet sales from plus size models and influencers like Erica Lauren and Jennifer Atilemile.

And that’s really the magic here.

This isn’t simply about transactions. It’s about discovery. About seeing fashion presented as aspirational and accessible for plus size bodies. About reconnecting plus size shoppers to the joy of browsing, touching, trying on, and being inspired in person again.

Especially in a world where so much plus size shopping has been reduced to endless scrolling and hoping the item looks like the photo.
