Author | Content Creator | Travel Host | Founder of Hues of Africa
Welcome to The Curvy Boss Spotlight, where every other week we shine the light on plus size professionals owning their lane. This isn’t just about plus size influencers or indie plus size designers (though we love them too). We’re showcasing writers, educators, photographers, strategists, and more; because you cannot be what you cannot see, like Tiffany Heard of Hues of Africa.
Our last feature introduced you to AK Brown, a fashion educator and editor carving out space in the industry. This time, we’re setting our sights globally with a curvy boss who’s redefining what travel and cultural storytelling look like, on her terms.
Meet Tiffany Heard, the trailblazing founder of Hues of Africa, a platform that celebrates solo travel, cultural connection, and the beauty of the Black diaspora. As an author, content creator, and group trip curator, Tiffany is inspiring plus size travelers to explore boldly, love loudly, and embrace every adventure.
From Solo Trips to Global Impact: Tiffany Heard’s Journey

Tiffany Heard’s story began with a simple passion: documenting her solo travel experiences online. But what started as a personal outlet turned into something much bigger.
“People started asking to travel with me,” she says. “That showed me there was a whole community of curious, like-minded travelers looking for safety, joy, and connection.”
And just like that, Hues of Africa was born; a platform where travel, culture, and community intersect.
She also channeled her love of heritage and identity into authorship, publishing a unique series of coloring and activity books that spotlight Africa’s beauty and the legacy of HBCUs. “Writing lets me inspire, teach, and preserve stories that matter,” she says.
Whether she’s leading a group trip, dropping content across TikTok and Instagram, or penning her next book, Tiffany Heard is making sure we see ourselves in every corner of the world.
What Her Day Looks Like: Business Meets Culture
Tiffany’s days are full and intentionally so. Between editing travel footage, answering emails, and prepping group trips to Ghana, Egypt, and Tanzania, she’s always in motion.
“I show up authentically by sharing not just the highlight reel, but the real lessons and joy that come with exploration,” she says.
Whether she’s planning for a podcast episode, uploading a reel, or speaking onstage, Tiffany leads with creativity, strategy, and culture-first storytelling. Hues of Africa isn’t just about travel, it’s about belonging.

From First Book to Global Platform
Publishing her first book during the pandemic was one of Tiffany’s biggest challenges… and proudest moments. She had no experience, no roadmap, and no guide.
“I taught myself every step,” she says. “There were doubts, but I kept learning, researching, and moving forward.”
The result? Not one, but two books: “Hues of HBCs” and “Hues of Africa: Journey Between the Lines African Adult Coloring and Activity Book”, with a third currently in progress; each one stronger than the last.
Now she brings that same resilience and resourcefulness to Hues of Africa, showing her audience what’s possible when you lead with passion and perseverance.
Why Representation Is the Real Passport
Representation is at the core of Tiffany Heard’s mission.
“As a plus size Black traveler, I rarely saw myself reflected in the travel space,” she says. “That made it feel like certain places weren’t ‘meant’ for us. I wanted to change that.”
Through Hues of Africa, Tiffany Heard creates visibility that matters; from social media posts and YouTube videos to curated group experiences that center Black joy, adventure, and history.
Representation, she says, is about more than being in the frame. “It’s about belonging. It’s about creating space where people feel affirmed, welcomed, and empowered.”

Confidence, Curves, and Curiosity
Tiffany defines confidence as giving herself full permission to live boldly and on her own terms.
“Every time I choose courage over fear, I prove to myself that I’m capable,” she says. “Confidence isn’t the absence of doubt, it’s the choice to show up anyway.”
Whether she’s stepping onto a plane or a stage, that energy fuels her leadership. Through Hues of Africa, she helps others find that same spark.
Using Her Platform to Inspire
Every time Tiffany documents her journey, she’s doing more than sharing content, she’s creating possibility for others.
“People have told me they never thought travel was for them, until they saw me doing it,” she shares. “That’s why I show up authentically. If I can inspire one person to take a chance on themselves, I’ve done my job.”
Style Tips for the Traveling Curvy Boss
Tiffany’s plus size style tip? Comfort + Confidence = Power.
She gravitates toward pieces that move with her; dresses, skirts, peplum tops, and travel-friendly fits like a tennis dress with built-in shorts. Whether she’s on a walking tour or a keynote stage, her outfits are always functional, flattering, and bold.
“Don’t squeeze into trends that weren’t made for you,” she says. “Wear what makes you feel unstoppable.”
What’s Next for Tiffany Heard and Hues of Africa

Tiffany is currently writing her third book, a soulful exploration of love across cultures. And her 2025 calendar is already filling up with curated group trips through Hues of Africa to Ghana, Egypt, and Tanzania.
“These trips build community, spark conversations, and help people see themselves in the world,” she says. “It’s about more than travel… it’s transformation.”
She’s also growing her podcast and content platforms to expand her mission: to celebrate the beauty, stories, and legacy of the global Black experience.
How She Celebrates
A win isn’t complete without friends, family… or a new passport stamp.
“I love celebrating with loved ones, but also with travel,” she says. “There’s no better way to honor a milestone than by exploring a new culture and remembering why I do this work.”
Dream Dinner (or Travel) Guests?
Tiffany’s table would be full of icons:
- Michelle Obama, for legacy and grace
- Nelson Mandela, for wisdom and vision
- Bozoma Saint John, for unapologetic power
She says it best: “It wouldn’t just be dinner; it would be a masterclass.”
