Hey, curvy besties! Can we please address the BIGGEST elephant in the room? How many brands that we love don’t carry size-inclusive sections in store? Shopping for clothes should be a fun experience, but for many of us baddies with a belly, it can be unpleasant. So many stores boast about their size-inclusive lines online, only for you to step inside and find a measly section shoved in the back, if it exists at all.

Imagine walking into your favorite store, excited to try on some new pieces, only to find out they don’t carry your size. Or worse, the plus size section is a sad, hidden corner with limited options. Limited styles, poor organization, and an overall sense that these sections were an afterthought make the shopping experience less enjoyable.

@samyra

This should not have been this hard?ALSO why is there a FOOD COURT by the plus size section??

It’s not just about the clothes; it’s about feeling seen and valued as a customer. When stores don’t prioritize inclusive sizing, it sends a message to plus size shoppers that they don’t matter. Now, as influencers have rightly been calling out brands and retailers who carry or do not carry a plausible section, shout out to Samyra, Trendy Curvy, and Curvily. These influencers have been taking these brands and retailers to task- each with their own hashtag campaigns!

Well, if you want to know what stores do their due diligence to make some of us plus size people feel included, here are seven stores with size-inclusive sections. Now, this list does not feature plus size only retailers, we know they carry our sizes, but we are talking about size-inclusive brands that sell BOTH straight size AND plus size options online…

7 Stores That Have Plus Size Sections IN STORE

1. Good American

Good American has slowly been opening stores, with size-inclusivity at the forefront of the brand. With three locations in Los Angeles, Los Vegas, and Newport Beach, if you are looking for a contemporary plus size brand to experience, Good American may be one to try. They offer a variety of styles, from denim to swim to fashion forward trend pieces, you have options here. Their in-store experience is just as size-inclusive in stores as online up to a 5X, with well-organized sections that make shopping a breeze.

2. Anthropologie

Anthropologie has been a favorite with TCF since its launch of A+ plus size options. Their plus size range includes sizes up to 3X in-store. Originally in ten stores when launched, Anthropologie only has options in three of its stores, but if you are in the Century City, Disney Springs, Fl, or in Don Mills Toronto, ON, you are in luck. Anthropologie offers the same styles and trends available in their standard sizes. From jeans to dresses, you can expect various options that don’t compromise style or comfort.

3. Target

Target is a go-to for many reasons, and its commitment to size inclusivity is one of them. Their in-store plus size section, often branded as Ava & Viv, ranges from size 14 to 30. Target doesn’t hide these sections in the back; they’re integrated into the women’s clothing area, making it easy to find stylish and affordable pieces. Plus, Target frequently collaborates with designers to offer trendy collections that cater to all sizes, ensuring they are size-inclusive in stores. In my experience, online doesn’t always accurately show plus sizes, but stores tend to carry a wider range of sizes.

4. Macy’s

This next one depends on where you’re at, but IMO, it has one of the best size-inclusive sections in store. Macy’s is another store that has embraced size inclusivity, offering a wide range of plus size options in-store. They carry various brands that cater to sizes 14 and up, ensuring you have plenty of choices for any occasion. Macy’s plus size sections are well-stocked and easy to navigate, making your shopping experience enjoyable and fulfilling.

5. Nordstrom

This next store carries size-inclusive sections in store. Nordstrom has made steps to commit to size inclusivity, offering a wide range of plus size options in-store. They stock numerous brands that cater to sizes up to 24 or 3X, and their plus size sections are thoughtfully integrated throughout the store. Nordstrom’s focus on quality and style ensures that plus-size shoppers can access fashionable and high-end pieces, making them the perfect choice.

6. Kohl’s

Kohl’s, a store that values size inclusivity, makes it convenient for plus size shoppers to find what they need. Their in-store plus size section, often located under the brands Sonoma, Apt. 9, and Croft & Barrow, ranges up to 4X. These sections are well-organized and feature a variety of styles, from casual to business casual, saving plus size shoppers time and effort in finding something they love.

7. Forever 21

Now, Forever 21 has been an OG in carrying plus in store, but over the years, access to the plus size options in person, is a bit of a hit or miss. As Samyra shared, in Southern California, she trekked all the way to Northridge to shop Forever 21+ in person. Carrying up to a size 3X (Junior plus vs traditional plus), Forever 21 could be an option for you to play in, if you can find one that carries plus!

These seven options are in now way the ONLY places, but a reminder to the places that are available to us. These stores are stepping up and ensuring that plus size shoppers are seen and celebrated. Next time you’re on the hunt for a new outfit, give these spots a try. You deserve a shopping experience that’s as amazing as you are, and these stores are proving brands can carry size-inclusive sections in store.
