Eshakti

Founded in 2001 by P. B. (P. Balu) Parulekar, eShakti set out to solve one of fashion’s biggest challenges: the fact that standard sizing does not fit most women. The company developed a proprietary made-to-order production model that allowed customers to personalize garments using either standard sizing or detailed body measurements, while also modifying design elements such as sleeve length, neckline, hemline, and pockets. The brand became especially popular within the plus-size community because it offered one of the industry’s broadest size ranges, extending from size 0 through 36W. Rather than producing large inventories, eShakti manufactured garments after each order was placed, reducing excess inventory while allowing customers to receive clothing tailored specifically to their measurements and preferences. The collections included dresses, skirts, tops, jumpsuits, workwear, and occasionwear in hundreds of prints and fabrics. Throughout the 2010s, eShakti earned a loyal following among petite, tall, plus-size, and hard-to-fit shoppers who appreciated the opportunity to purchase semi-custom clothing at accessible prices. The company also developed patented technologies supporting its mass-customization platform and became an early leader in digital fashion personalization. Beginning in 2023, customers reported significant fulfillment delays and unfulfilled orders. By 2025, widespread reporting indicated that the company had largely ceased normal operations, although no formal closure announcement was issued. As a result, eShakti is generally regarded as inactive for consumers despite its corporate website remaining online.
