How long have you been blogging?
I have been blogging for four and half years. It’s hard to believe how quickly time has flown by.
What or who inspired you to become a fashion blogger? What led you to it?
I travel almost every Monday to Thursday for work, and I spend a lot of time by myself when I’m traveling. Reading blogs was one of the hobbies that I discovered I could do from anywhere there was WiFi. After spending so much time reading blogs, I decided to start my own – “why not?” When I first started my blog, it was meant to be my creative outlet and hobby I could do when I was traveling. I didn’t know what I was doing, didn’t know what I wanted it to be about, but I knew I wanted to write and share my experience.
My first few posts were related to beauty products and routines, but after a few weeks/months (I was posting sporadically when I first started out), I started incorporating more fashion posts. After sharing my first few outfit posts, I knew that fashion/curvy style was where I wanted to start focusing more of my content on. And like all great things in my life, my blog evolved (and continues to evolve) to what it is today.
I’ve always had a passion for fashion and truly believe that it is an amazing way to showcase your personality and to inspire confidence. I wanted to share how fashion has impacted my life and helped me to become more confident in who I am.
Do you blog full-time, for fun, as a hobby? Share your evolution!
Something Gold, Something Blue (SGSB) is one of my biggest hobbies, and I love that I am able to share my life/opinions with others. I would love to dedicate more time to SGSB and hopefully, one day, I will have that opportunity.
What is your favorite asset? Your legs, arms, waist? How do you play that up?
I love my shoulders. And I’m so fortunate that off-the-shoulder and cold shoulder tops are easily accessible right now because they allow me to easily play them up!
What’s your favorite thing about being a blogger?
Hands down, it’s the people that I have gotten to meet (and become friends with). From the amazing individuals who follow me and send the sweetest messages or provide the comment that boosts my spirits to the other fabulous bloggers inspiring and motivating me to be the best I can be – there is honestly nothing better!
Who/what are your favorite designers/brands?
I love shopping at Eloquii, ASOS, Lane Bryant, Gwynnie Bee, Talbots, and Target!
Describe your personal style.
Colorful, preppy, corporate/office-appropriate + modest
Which bloggers inspire you? Plus or straight size! Any bloggers currently on your radar?
I love getting inspiration from this amazing blogging community – there are so many creative men and women expressing their individual style that I can’t even begin to list everyone!
What do you think about where plus size fashion is today versus a few years back?
I think plus size fashion has come such a long way in the past 4+ years. When I first started blogging about fashion, there were very few places I could find stylish plus size clothing. Now there are so many fabulous places to find great pieces for any style or body shape. I know there is still room to go, but seeing the amount of designers using plus size models in their fashion shows and how many brands are extending styles makes me one happy fashionista!
What do you think or hear from readers, is one of the biggest myths about plus size fashion?
If I had a nickel for every time someone says, “I can’t wear XYZ!” Girl, yes you can!!! Or at least try it.
Are you working on anything or have anything to share? Anything else you want The Curvy Fashionista’s readers to know?
I have a few really cool collaborations coming up and can’t wait to share them with all my readers/followers.
Lastly, what does Curvy.Confident.Chic mean to you?
For me, Curvy.Confident.Chic means wearing what makes me feel happy and beautiful. Confidence bleeds into everything in my life and the better I feel about myself, the more I believe I am able to achieve. The motto of my blog and mission I try to live by is to “Follow your dreams and feel beautiful while doing it!” and I believe that being Curvy, Confident and Chic is another way of saying that!
