If you’re a music lover, the incredible Afropunk music festival is probably on your radar. Starting in Brooklyn and spanning from Paris to Johannesburg, London to Atlanta, these traveling festivals showcase the best in music by a plethora of black artists from all over the world. And today? We are shining the light on Afropunk Brooklyn!
Brilliant artists like Janelle Monae, Erykah Badu, Tyler the Creator, and Miguel took to the stage with many other fabulous musicians last weekend. Throngs of well-dressed music lovers danced well into the night under a full moon in Commodore Barry Park.
A safe space where musicians and fans alike join in celebrating each other in shared love and respect for the culture, Afropunk draws some of the most devoted music fans spanning the globe. The sold-out show is a yearly hot ticket for gorgeous art, as well as being an act of resistance and self-care for many.
While there’s no shortage of incredible style, sometimes the press coverage excludes bigger bodies. To shine a light on some of the amazing plus size styles, we’ve created a roundup of some of our favorite looks from this year’s Afropunk Brooklyn.
