During our last excursion, we ventured South of the Border to Mexico to learn all about the  plus size brand Generose. Are you as excited about their official relaunch as we are? Today, we are showcasing a plus size designer who makes gorgeous custom made pieces for curvy girls sized 12 to 36. And when we say gorgeous… We mean gorgeous! Don’t believe me? Well luckily, our adventures are taking us to the “Show Me” state!

This St. Louis-based label is the creative child of designer and CEO Whitney Jones. Whitney made the bold move to launch her brand, not with the goal to be poppin’ and ultimately rich and famous as a result of her endeavors. Quite frankly, she just wanted fashion that was smart, sensible, attractive and affordable. And she had a first-hand understanding how difficult it can be for the curvy crowd to achieve this goal.

 “I’m plus-sized, and I’ve been plus my entire life…”

Because she has been plus sized for a large bulk of her life, she understood the struggles fellow curvy women endure finding cute and comfortable pieces that can be transformed from day to night. And in perfect You Oughta Know fashion, Whitney made the conscious choice to be the change she wanted to see in the world and in the plus size fashion industry.

This simple choice clearly resonated with others, as Whitney was the winner of the Columbia College-St. Louis location pitch competition in 2016 and finished third place in the college’s Student Entrepreneur Showcase as well. The response to her work to play-inspired pieces was clearly the catalyst for this success. Whitney created her first pieces for the line with a simple premise. Your appearance can help and/or hinder your work performance, and your general thoughts on life, in many ways.

” We understand that the everyday woman wants a true variety, whether that is more trend-driven styles, a better fit, higher quality fabrics, model selections, or extended sizes that are offered at an affordable price. “

While Whitney confesses that design skills are a family trait, and that she always sewed her own clothes, it wasn’t until she started thinking about her future that designing a line became a thought. She plans to build on all that she has created thus far, and at the same time remain local and close to her St. Louis roots.

” At Liv & Kiss our motto is living your life to the fullest in clothing that keeps it simple.”
