Grab your glasses, sis. We’re going reading! With the launch of our newest addition, the TCF Book Club, we couldn’t help but take a moment to spotlight what’s been going on in plus size fiction books lately. These are big-girl books to check out during your next stroll through the literary market.

If you didn’t know, we recently announced our exclusive category, TCF Book Club, which is dedicated to plus size authors, the plus size characters, and the readers who (unapologetically… and understandably) hang on to every word of these enthralling plots. In a world where storylines (be it on the silver screen or within the pages) are stagnated by a lack of inclusivity and stereotypical tropes, forefronting full-figured protagonists in fictitious spaces is important.

We can be the high-profile attorneys, pacing our red-bottomed pumps through the courthouse halls to win (yet another) case with a sense of conviction. We can be the gorgeous girl who hated the boy she’d never have pictured as her high-school sweetheart… let alone handsome husband, later in life. ROMANCE NOVEL FEELS, ANYONE?! Or, we can even be the superheroine who’s a bashful baker during the day but a badass on a broom through the west side of the witchy woods.

Led by one of your contributors, me! Ashley Te’Arra (aka Ashley Blackwell), alongside our wonderful SHE-O, Marie Denee, the TCF Book Club aims to highlight characters who resemble us… whose bodies are marked by strength and breaking beauty barriers that have long served as societal standards meant to separate us.

The truth is… chubby representation matters in all genres. And, chapter by chapter, our budding community will seek to cultivate a safe space for fellow make-believers to share their love fat leads and the powerhouse pens behind them.

About this Book:

When Edie Brandstrup attempts to save her sweet, seemingly harmless human neighbor from the first major zombie breach in two decades, she’s stunned to be saved by him—and his ridiculously large sword—instead.

As it turns out, he’s actually a super-old, super-surly vampire. But for all her neighbor’s newly revealed cynicism and lethality, Gaston “Max” Boucher (yes, Gaston) is unexpectedly protective. He wants her to stay in his safety bunker until the breach is resolved. Edie can’t risk more innocent people getting killed, though—and Max won’t let her save them alone.

As they unravel a sinister conspiracy to set zombies loose on the world (again), the duo meet a host of lovable allies and discover they’re not the only ones willing to fight for the future of humanity. Despite the awful timing, Edie finds herself falling for the vampire who’s helping her save the world . . . but all their dangerous plans could end their future before it even begins.

As she and Max battle side by side, Edie must decide whether having a love worth living for also means having a love you’d die for—and, in a world that grows deadlier by the minute, whether that’s a risk she’s willing to take.
