How long have you been blogging/content creating?
I’ve been blogging and creating content since Fall of 2017.
Who/What inspired you to become a fashion influencer? What led you to it?
I started More Than Your Average (my business) Fall of 2017, in which I focus on inspiring women through plus size vintage selections. The purpose of my business is to cater to women who are sizes 12+ and who may not be successful in finding inspiring pieces in a typical store.
Vintage selections are my inspiration when it comes to fashion, and my goal is to influence other women through the history, boldness, and sustainability of vintage finds.
What’s the biggest/best lesson you’ve learned while being an influencer/content creator?
I believe it’s essential always to be true to yourself and to inspire others through your passion. My favorite quote to date is “to be a fruit loop in a sea of cheerios“.
Bring your entire self to the world and be unapologetic for what you’re here to offer.
What is your favorite feature on you, and how do you show it off?
I love my smile! I believe it’s important to smile because it not only uplifts you but others around you. That’s why I choose to do just that!
What are the challenges, if any, you face in being tall and plus-size?
I’ve been a size 14 since I was in middle school. I’ve faced bullying for my height at a young age. Between my size and stature, at times, I’ve faced challenges around judgment throughout my life, but I’ve overcome comments and scenarios through my journey of building self-confidence, learning who I am, and understanding my self-worth.
What’s your favorite thing about being tall and plus-size?
I love myself! There is nothing I would change about my height, figure, or who I am. I celebrate the person I’ve become every day.
What’s your favorite thing about being a blogger/influencer?
I love my community! I enjoy building a community where I can inspire, whether through color, styling, vintage, or outfits of the day. There is no better feeling than being able to make someone’s day through something I showcase on my platform or a message I send through a chat.
Who/what are your favorite designers/brands?
I enjoy following an array of different designers! Lately, my favorite has been Christian Siriano. I like his approach to his brand and also how he prioritizes inclusivity for all shapes and sizes. He is very inspiring, and I’ve enjoyed seeing his brand grow over the years.
Describe your personal style.
My style is very colorful, bold, classy, eccentric, dynamic, attention-grabbing, and tells a story through my vintage pieces and statement accessories.
Which content creator(s) inspire you? Plus or straight size!
I love following Iris Apfel and Caroline Vazzana. I’m inspired by their sense of style, content creation, and positive outlook.
What do you think about where plus size fashion is today, versus a few years back?
I love how I’ve been able to play a positive role in the plus-size fashion industry through More Than Your Average (MTYA). My goal is to continue to inspire women, who are considered plus size, through the world of vintage fashion.
I genuinely enjoy curating selections for women with sizes 12+ through vintage finds because it brings me joy to see women smile and celebrate my finds. I believe there is plenty of room for more business models like mine, leaning into the world of plus size vintage and sustainability.
What do you think is one of the biggest myths about plus size fashion?
I believe all women deserve to look and feel good, no matter shape or size. One of the biggest myths I’ve heard is around plus size women lacking self-confidence due to their size. There is no such correlation.
Lastly, what does the word Confidence mean to you?
To me, confidence means being your authentic self 100% of the time and being unapologetic for the assets and passions you are here to offer the world, despite how others react or what they think. Own who you are and what you stand for, even if you are standing alone.
