This post brought to you by Curvation. All opinions are 100% mine.
As a plus size woman, we are told by media, family, and sometimes friends the ideal of beauty. The definition of beauty. The parameters of beauty.
As plus size women, these definitions have excluded us with the exception of… wait for it:
“You have a pretty face”
“If you lost a little weight, you’d find a boyfriend”
If you wear black, you’ll look skinnier”
*inserts severe eye roll* I mean I could go on, but you get my point. I am so grateful to the activists, community, and the brands and designers who challenge society’s ideal of beauty. It is refreshing, exciting, and inspiring!
My most liberating Moment? Rocking THIS:
I mean how does one learn to love themself in a space so hard to navigate when it comes to building confidence, creating and fostering self-love, and challenging the norms? Even for me, I find myself in spaces where I feel low, small, and invisible… but because of my network, community, and family I am even more motivated to challenge society’s status quo on beauty…
You have probably seen this with my own personal evolution in my personal style. I am playing with new silhouettes, having fun showing more leg or curves than normal, and I am challenging MYSELF to step out of my own box, throwing away whatever rules I created in my own mind for my own style… It has been a journey! One that this blog has helped me take and make… But I do not do this alone…
#ShapeofBeauty: “… inspiring curvy women’s natural confidence to shine from the inside-out”
There are brands that help challenge, redefine, and inspire change beyond their shoppers, but more into the community. When I learned about Curvation and their new latest campaign, #ShapeofBeauty, immediately I had to be involved. As one of Curvation’s Bloggers chosen, I get to share with you this message and invite you to share and participate too! But, to get you more familiar, check out this DOPE video:
Curvation lingerie embraces women’s curves with spirit and support.
I mean how cool is this campaign? You know when I participate in things like this, it helps and reminds me too, when I am nagging or nitpicking certain features or things I do not like, and I have to check myself… remind myself I am no accident, and am beautiful just the way I am. THIS, is my #ShapeofBeauty takeaway.
SO how can you participate? First off, make sure you check out Curvation, learn more about the campaign, read the blog, BUT most, MOST importantly, join the #ShapeofBeauty conversation with Curvation on Facebook! They want to hear from you!
