Carmakoma

Founded in 2008 in Denmark, Carmakoma was created to challenge traditional plus-size fashion by offering modern, high-quality clothing inspired by Scandinavian design principles. Rather than producing conservative or oversized garments, the founders envisioned collections that embraced contemporary silhouettes, clean tailoring, and trend-forward styling specifically designed for curvier bodies. The label quickly gained an international following for its elevated wardrobe staples, including tailored blazers, leather jackets, dresses, denim, knitwear, outerwear, and occasionwear. Carmakoma became especially known for its monochromatic palettes, architectural cuts, premium fabrics, and minimalist aesthetic, distinguishing itself from many mainstream plus-size brands of the time. In 2017, Danish fashion conglomerate BESTSELLER acquired Carmakoma and integrated the brand into its ONLY portfolio, relaunching it as ONLY CARMAKOMA. While the standalone Carmakoma label was retired, many of its signature design elements, fit philosophy, and extended-size offerings continue under the ONLY CARMAKOMA name, which remains available throughout Europe and internationally. Although the original Carmakoma brand no longer operates independently, it remains an influential name in Scandinavian plus-size fashion, helping redefine contemporary style for curvy women and paving the way for modern size-inclusive collections within the BESTSELLER family.
