Plus Influencer Spotlight: FashionMaBE on Faith, Fashion, and Confidence From the Inside Out

Welcome back to another edition of The Curvy Fashionista’s Plus Influencer Spotlight, our series celebrating the style powerhouses who are using their voices, creativity, and platforms to shift the culture. Each week, we highlight a bold, brilliant creator who’s redefining what influence looks like in plus size fashion, one story, one statement, and one stunning look at a time, like today’s spotlight on FashionMaBE.

Last week, we featured Ebony Martin, the opera-singer-turned-style-icon whose journey proves that fashion can be as powerful as it is personal. This week, we’re heading to Washington, DC, to meet a woman who blends faith, fashion, and introspection into one unstoppable brand of influence: Jaimee Rucker, better known online as FashionMaBE.

Why This Series Matters

Let’s talk about power and the kind that can’t be ignored. Plus size influencers aren’t just part of the fashion conversation, they’re driving it. Studies show that creators in this space consistently spark higher engagement than traditional fashion influencers, with audiences showing up, sharing, and celebrating more than ever.

According to Influencer Hero, many top plus size creators in the U.S. see engagement rates that top 2%, proving that authenticity, relatability, and representation always win. And insights from The Social Cat reveal that nano and micro influencers, which include many plus size style voices; outperform the rest, averaging 2.71% and 1.81% engagement respectively.

In short? This community doesn’t just influence style… they shape culture.

And that’s exactly where FashionMaBE stands out. Her work moves beyond outfits into intention, blending personal growth, spirituality, and confidence into every conversation. She’s proof that when you show up fully yourself, the impact speaks for itself.

The Journey of FashionMaBE: From Mannequin to Meaning

FashionMaBE’s story started with a simple goal: to show up more confidently in the world. But what began as a desire to look “put together” soon became something deeper.

“My journey began with a desire to show up in the world as a more confident, fashionable woman,” she shares. “But I quickly realized the real work was internal. Fashion was just the bait! I had to learn who I was, so I wasn’t showing up as a mannequin, well-dressed on the outside, but empty inside.”

That realization led her to create a space that married fashion and faith, style and substance, and ultimately, confidence and community.

Through her podcast, formerly Adjust Your Crown and now FashionMaBE, she’s built a space where women can explore “behind the seams” conversations about wellness, womanhood, and the stories we wear every day.

“I realized other women were also looking for something different. Not just trends or trending topics, but deeper conversations that blend fashion and wellness,” she explains.

The Style: Classic, Edgy, and Unapologetically You

If we had to define FashionMaBE’s aesthetic in one phrase, it would be: Classic Edgy Chic, a balance of timeless structure and modern boldness.

“My style is influenced most by learning who I am,” she says. “But if I had to name a muse, it’s definitely Tracee Ellis Ross. Her energy, her creativity, her playfulness with fashion, it’s all so authentic.”

Her go-to looks? A blazer, a wide-leg pant, and a crop top… separately or all together. “Those pieces make me feel powerful, put together, and completely myself.”

And when it comes to plus size style tips, FashionMaBE knows how to make a silhouette sing. “If you’re like me, an apple shape girlie, a blazer or third layer does wonders for balance. Also, move your waist!”

Her style pet peeve? “Looking like everyone else. Make pieces your own. Add you to every outfit.”

The Mission: Fashion is the Bait

While most influencers use their platforms to highlight outfits, FashionMaBE uses hers to highlight identity.

“My platform has always amplified and told the stories of plus bodies,” she says. “It’s in my guest selection, my discussions, and how I frame fashion as more than fabric, it’s a statement of who we are when we show up in the world.”

And her goal isn’t just to influence shopping habits—it’s to spark self-worth. “I don’t want to just influence women to buy clothes. I want to influence them to seek a WELLthy lifestyle, a life of intentional happiness.”

Her latest project, the e-book Clothed in Confidence: A Faith-Filled Style Guide,” is a free resource designed to help women discover their personal style from a place of faith and self-discovery. She’s also wrapping the third season of her FashionMaBE podcast, which she describes as “impactful, fashionable conversations.”

What’s next? She’s manifesting a live recording for the next season. “Shhh,” she teases, “but it’s coming!”

Influence, Redefined

For FashionMaBE, influence isn’t about being trendy, it’s about being transformational.

“Influence is impactful,” she explains. “It’s not about feeding consumerism. It’s about encouraging women to live with intention; to see themselves as whole, worthy, and already crowned.”

And that’s the heart of her message: Fashion is the bait.

“Come for the looks,” she says, “but leave feeling seen, heard, and deserving by creation, not by circumstance. Our crown has already been bought and paid for; all we have to do is put it on. Crown on. Head high.”
