The return of femininity has influenced the spring trend through last fall into spring! Peplum details have found itself modern, sharp, sweet, and such a curve friendly silhouette! But what is even better about this trend is how flexible and wearable it is.
In full lace, paired with a color blocking element, as a top, skirt, or dress, in a bold print, this trend lends itself to every type of fashion lover, from the edgy to the demure! I have rounded up some of my favorite pieces fashioned in sizes 14+ for our curves!
Spring into the Plus Size Trends: Peplum
Tips to Wear the Peplum Trend
- A little timid with wearing anything that protrudes from your midsection? Start with a blouse that does not flare out too much or a dress with small peplum inserts.
- Wear your peplum top with a fitted skirt or bottom to play off the proportions and to give play up your curves!
- Feeling Vampy? Lace, florals, and strategic color will emphasize your bustline, minimize the waistline, and maximize the hips!
- A Peplum dress can be one of the easiest entries into wearing this trend should you be timid! Subtle peplum details won’t leave you feeling overwhelmed by the trend!
- Wearing a peplum skirt? Pair with a fitted top to show them what you are working with!
Are you a fan of the peplum trend? How would you wear it? Which item do you have your eye on?
I have the ASOS peplum shirt in black & the coral Dorothy Perkins peplum dress. I love the peplum trend! The ASOS shirt really covers your tummy and looks great with a pencil skirt. I also have the black/ivory polka dot peplum dress by Dortothy Perkins. I got so many compliements when I wore it!
I love peplums!!! They’re perfect for us inverted triangles. Torrid put a peplum on a tweed shift a few years ago; man, I loved that dress and I got so many compliments. And now that the shape is in stores again I’ll be adding a few new peplums to my wardrobe.
I agree there, I am inverted triangle but have gone apple with middle aged spread so they are perfect for giving my figure some much needed shape and also the peplum hides my big belly.
I love this trend! I feel like Sandra Clarke (a la “227”) whenever I wear it 🙂
I like the trend but most of these items have capped sleeves which never seem to fit my arms, no matter what size I get, they’re really uncomfortable.
I wear a little cropped shrug cardigan with mine as I hate my arms. Mine is sleeveless but I hate my upper arms so a shrug is perfect.

Excellent way to cover a tummy!
I love this style! I’m a size 12 and I wasn’t sure if this would be flattering, but WOW how beautiful are these ladies! I’m into refashioning lately and I can’t wait to do this! Thanks for this post!
