Show Me, Style Me: The Little White Dress

What happens when you Google “Little White Dress” while trying to create a post on one?  I’m glad you asked.

Google brings up scores and scores of bridal information.  Which is wonderful – if you’re getting married.

And while I hope some of you this season are happily marrying, or crashing wonderful weddings we at The Curvy Fashionista wanted to talk about the Little White Dress.  The white dress that’s worn more as a statement.  The crisp white, the softer whites, the off-whites.  Whites in all different hues and shades.

Of course this is the little white dress that can be worn in place of the LBD (Little Black Dress).  For all of the white parties, the events and the social occasions that happen throughout spring and summer it’s a wonderful item to have.  One in which can be styled and dressed in a hundred different ways – down or up, for a special occasion or something casual and at the beach.  White isn’t as tricky as some would have you think.

Shown separately side by side are two dresses from the Monif C. Collection:  The Marilyn Short Convertible Dress and the Marilyn Ruched Convertible Dress.  I love these two dresses because they can be worn different ways (and they also come in other colors!). Being able to create a completely different dress by the way you tie it means the dress can work double duty all summer.

In addition, don’t be afraid to try on some of the straight-sized items.  I’ve found in looking for new summers skirts and dresses, there are many retailers whose large and extra-large clothes can go a long way.  I wanted to mention it in this post because I bought a wonderful floor-length white skirt from the Gap two years ago.  Because I’m a solid size 18, I bought an XL thinking it would fit right? Wrong! It was too big! I had to have the skirt taken in (it was an item that had sold fast that year).   Places like Target also have sizes that may run a but large from time to time.
