Copper Union Apparel was founded by designer Claire Doody, whose background in jewelry design, fiber arts, and costume design inspired a fresh approach to plus-size fashion. After debuting her Fall/Winter 2014 “Moscow Nomad” collection, which earned an Audience Favorite Award, Doody committed to creating clothing that celebrated curves rather than treating extended sizing as an afterthought. Based in Portland, Oregon, Copper Union designs contemporary separates, dresses, jumpsuits, outerwear, and everyday wardrobe staples specifically patterned for plus-size bodies. The brand emphasizes exceptional fit, high-quality fabrics, and garments intended to be worn for years rather than seasons. Ethical manufacturing is central to Copper Union’s identity.
