Founded in 2021, Chouette Designs was created after jewelry designer Ashley McGinty recognized a significant gap in the jewelry industry: beautiful, high-quality jewelry was often unavailable in extended ring sizes or designed with only traditional customers in mind. Drawing on her background in fashion design and fine jewelry, Ashley partnered with her wife, Marine McGinty, to build a company centered on inclusivity from the very beginning. The brand specializes in demi-fine and fine jewelry, including rings, necklaces, bracelets, earrings, wedding bands, and bespoke engagement rings. Every collection is designed in-house, with many gemstones custom cut specifically for Chouette Designs. The company also offers extensive custom jewelry services, allowing clients to collaborate directly with the designers to create one-of-a-kind heirloom pieces. One of Chouette Designs’ defining features is its commitment to size inclusivity. The company offers 23 ring sizes, significantly more than the traditional jewelry industry, and intentionally creates gender-neutral designs that serve customers of all body types and identities. The brand has become especially popular within the LGBTQ+ community for its welcoming approach to engagement jewelry and commitment rings. Today, Chouette Designs continues to operate independently from its San Diego studio, producing handcrafted jewelry while advocating for greater diversity and inclusion throughout the jewelry industry.
