Welcome back to another week of The Curvy Fashionista’s Plus Influencer Spotlight, our celebratory series amplifying the voices of the powerhouses shaping plus size fashion, culture, and community… on and offline.
Every week, we feature a bold and brilliant plus size influencer who’s using their platform not just to serve looks, but to shift conversations, build community, and remind the world that plus size style is dynamic, disruptive, and here to stay. Last week, we celebrated Sharonda, whose fearless fashion and unapologetic confidence lit up timelines everywhere. This week? We’re heading to Portsmouth, Virginia to shine the spotlight on a woman who’s blending beauty, activism, and high-impact glam with purpose.
Meet Kat Freeman (@Katffmodel). Model, pageant queen, content creator, heart attack survivor, and advocate for the Homeless community. Whether she’s walking the runway, showing off a killer accessory game, or securing her fifth New York City billboard, Kat Freeman is the embodiment of what it means to influence with intention.

Why This Series Matters
Did you know that plus size fashion influencers often generate higher engagement rates than many traditional fashion creators? According to Influencer Hero, many top plus size fashion influencers in the U.S. consistently average engagement rates above 2%, proving that audiences are actively tuning in and showing up for size-inclusive content.
And it’s not just the big names—data from The Social Cat reveals that nano and micro influencers (which many plus size creators fall under) drive the highest engagement across all categories, with rates around 2.71% for nano and 1.81% for micro influencers. Translation? Plus size creators aren’t just being seen, ohhh they’re building community, influence, and impact.
Influencers like Kat are the reason why this space is thriving and we’re here to celebrate it every week.
From the Runway to Real-Life Advocacy
Kat’s journey started on the catwalk, walking in countless fashion shows and gracing the pages of multiple magazines. But as her career blossomed, so did her purpose. Modeling turned into mentorship, and content creation became a catalyst for community action.
“When I decided to use my platform to advocate for the Homeless community, it started to reach people on another level,” she shares. “I didn’t just want to be another pretty face. I wanted to make a difference.”
Through her growing social media platforms, Kat has helped hundreds of people secure housing and essential resources. Her influence goes far beyond likes and follows—it’s about impact, connection, and using fashion as a vehicle for change.

A Style That Speaks
Kat describes her personal style as sexy, bold, and fun, and it shows in every head-turning look she posts. She’s quick to credit her designer, RicLamar, and the plus size queens who inspire her daily. But when it comes to confidence, Kat brings her own sauce.
“I love makeup and wigs. My transformations are exceptional, if I do say so myself!” she laughs. “Give me a full wig, some concealer, and a magnificent clear gloss, and I’m ready. Because if my hair isn’t right? The outfit just doesn’t hit.”
@modelkatfree @DORADO gifted me with these amazing personalized jewelry pieces. They are gorgeous. Each piece was personalized specifically for me and I love every one of them. I tagged them up above so make sure you all go follow and place your personalized order. You can thank me later @weardorado #doradofashion #fyp #viral #jewelry ♬ Aesthetic Vibes – sxldi
And while she’s not caught up in brand labels, Kat swears by accessories to level up any look. “An outfit isn’t an outfit without accessories. I can go from ‘oh that’s cute’ to ‘WOW’ with the right necklace, brooch, or earring. My outfit has to speak. Including my shoes.”
Challenging Beauty Norms with Love & Light
Kat uses her voice to uplift, not compete. Her goal? To show women of all sizes that beauty and worth are not size-dependent.
“My size has been up and down, but I still embrace the beauty within. I show women that we can work together and exist in the same rooms. I don’t engage in negativity or shame—especially not towards other plus size women.”
And when it comes to what she wishes more brands understood? Kat keeps it real.
“A lot of plus size clothing is either cheaply made or shapeless. Brands need to understand our bodies better. We want fashion, not just fabric. Give us more va va voom and less ‘ugh.’”
More Than a Pretty Face

Kat isn’t just modeling looks, she’s modeling life with resilience and purpose. A survivor and a fighter, her journey includes not only industry milestones but also personal triumphs.
“I want people to know that as a heart attack survivor and Homeless advocate, I chose to live and fight. It’s not just about being a Pageant Queen… which, by the way, I do very well,” she smiles.
What’s next for Kat? Oh, just a few casual things: her fifth NYC billboard, a sponsored trip to Thailand, and continuing to use her voice to drive global awareness around homelessness.
