20 Amazing Moments from #NYFW that proves #Plussizegirlsrock!

Do you know what has been soo freaking amazing theses past two weeks? The representation of plus size women during New York Fashion Week. Team Plus Size has been showing up and showing out during all the NYFW festivities. Gurl!!! I’m talking about taking over the streets of NYC with impromptu photo shoots, displaying killer street style, and slaying the runway. I’m talking about those key Plus Size Fashion Moments from NYFW!

Just the mention of the plus size model sightings throughout the past two weeks has sent my heart into flutters. From the Ashley Nell Tipton runway show for her new line at JCPenney to a celebration of curves with Christian Siriano Spring 2017 collection featuring not one or two , but five plus size models! Seriously I have been in the midst of many emotions from all this greatness going on.

Finally, young women are seeing real women with meat on their bodies tearing up the runway, images far from the iconic “Super Models” I grew up viewing. I remember I would watch Fashion TV and feel so sad because I never saw anyone like me on the runway.

I hated how this feeling of shame unfortunately stayed with me for such a long time. It really wasn’t until I saw plus size images of comedian, Monique and plus size model, Emme did I feel differently. I knew then there were women out there in fashion beyond size zero!

This is the message I hope many young women take in from this post as I share:

Today was surreal and the first time I saw my designs walk down a #NYFW runway. I had a mini breakdown in the bathroom with my best friend trying to hold back tears from it all. How amazing were these moments? Seriously, my cup runneth over from all the body positive vibin’ all over the place and this was just from the pictures. Can you imagine being there first hand. I’ve already put NYFW on my calendar for next year! I must be in the midst of all this.
