Early last fall, I made a fun trip to New York with Evans to work with them on a few projects! Did you catch my video? Well, while I was there, I also worked with them on another cool project! I sat on a panel with a few other esteemed plus size industry folks to help choose the newest designer to fashion the always exciting third installment of the Cut for Evans collection!
Not only did the winner get their collection made, but her collection walked in Evans’ groundbreaking Design Collective for Evans show (I sooo wish I was there!)
Are you familiar with the Cut for Evans Collection and initiative?
Cut for Evans tasks graduate designers from two of the leading design schools in London, with fashioning a mini collection, specifically for the plus size woman, via knits and bold prints, while “retaining inspiration and reference direct from the catwalk.”
Who won?
Meet Yvonne Shu Yao, a BA student at Nottingham Trent University, who took inspiration for her collection from the underwater world. Her use of prints with classic silhouettes gives me cool sophistication with a strong eye for fashion! On trend with the season’s top color trends, Yao’s collection gives us a four piece collection that will easily fit into your closet!
