Last Friday, Patrice from Afrobella, Sarah from StyleIt Online, and I launched our petition and open letters to Target, asking for Target to include plus sizes in its designer collaborations.
With the latest advancements in plus size fashion, from Style369.com, ASOS Curves, City Chic, and Simply Be making waves and catering to the plus size U.S. Shopper- why not Target?
As of Monday, at noon:
We are at 1305 Signatures and Counting!
Jezebel featured my Open Letter, Daily Venus Diva, The Feminista Files, The Stir and PLUS model Magazine along with many plus size fashion bloggers dedicated a post to this- and for those who have-
THANK YOU!
Reading the various comments, thoughts, and concerns shared, I thought I would recap some of my goals and thoughts behind making this stand!
My goals for creating this petition are to share with Target:
- That although they have Pure Energy, plus size offerings IN STORE are very lackluster, if visible at all;
- The plus size woman is no longer afraid of her curves- with newfound confidence and offerings, we love fashion like the next;
- Putting us in the back corner, next to maternity, workout clothes, and bathing suits only makes us feel like the ugly step-child;
After sharing this with them, an open dialog and conversation is the first step! No pacifiers – but real talk. Which designers, floor layout, and styling to leverage the plus size fashion department are all starters!
Have you had the chance to check out the videos both Afrobella and Style It Online did in solidarity of plus sizes being available in Target?
If you are moved, agree, or support the mission,
Please sign the petition, tweet it, and share on Facebook!
Which designers would like to see do a collaboration with Target? In our size?
