This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Olay. The opinions and text are all mine.
So, if you have been following me on Facebook, then I teased my involvement with Olay and their Olay Luminous Line. Now that I am on the other side of 35, I really have to nail down a skin care regimen that keeps my skin under control. Hyperpigmentation, dark spots, and a nonexistent glow? Even with my increased water intake, I was not where I wanted to be… So, when the Olay team offered me this chance to give it a whirl, I leaped at this opportunity, especially as my family has been an Olay family for years!
So what products did I use? Well, the Olay team sent me four products to test out!
- Olay Luminous Micellar Water
- Olay Luminous Miracle Boost Concentrate
- Olay Luminous Light Hydrating Lotion
- Olay Luminous Overnight Mask
Why the Luminous Line?
Before this project, I did not know that there was a line from Olay that specifically addressed issues for women of color. Did you? But when I found out, this is what made me take the leap!
“Olay Regenerist Luminous illuminates skin from within using a Skin Brightening Complex that penetrates 10 layers deep. It fades the appearance of dark spots, evens tone and texture, and accelerates surface cell turnover to reveal the natural pearlescent glow of your skin.”- from the Olay website
So, breaking this down, what does the line claim to do? The benefits definitely intrigued me!
- Reduces the appearance of dark spots
- Keeps more moisture at the surface level
- Accelerates surface skin turnover
- Regenerates surface skin cells
- Brightens skin
- Contains a brightening complex
- Provides intense hydration
This sounded like it hit spots that I was definitely curious about, so let me show you my before and after!
My concerns:
I have hyperpigmentation, I am quite the oily t-zone person, and my skin did not feel or look bright and awake. I wanted a glow, even tone, and for my marks to fade away. While I have tried a variety of products, I am horrible at sticking to ONE thing or regimen when it comes to my skin… I try everything! So, I decided to buckle down and give it a whirl.
The Process:
To exclusively use the Luminous products in the following 4-step regimen:
Step 1: AM (if needed) and PM cleanse with the Olay Luminous Micellar Water
Step 2: AM and PM apply Olay Luminous Miracle Boost Concentrate
Step 3: AM apply Olay Luminous Light Hydrating Lotion
Step 4: PM apply Olay Luminous Overnight Mask
My Results?
Honey.
I cannot go a day without that Micellar Water. Who knew that cleansing your face without a sudsy soap could do so much? It was hard sticking to it, but I had to travel during this period and my skin felt the difference for those three days. After washing with it, my skin felt supple and clean, not taut and dry… it was definitely a new experience! It took me a minute to get the hang of the pump but once I did, we were best friends. For me? I used it day and night- I wanted to get the best options here!
Another surprise? The Overnight Mask! I was not sure about this, as it is incredulously rich. But, the glow that I have, I know that this mask has a lot to do with my new glow! It is odd that this is a gel based, non-peel type of mask, as you hear mask and think differently! But this baby, she was a delight…
I must note that none of the products had any type of tingling sensation. I would think that I would get that from one of them, but my skin constantly felt moisturized, calmed, and soothed… With all of my experiments in skin regimens in the past, I thought that I needed that feeling to know something was reallllly working. Ha!
I did not think that I could make it through the challenge, but girl! I must have stayed in the mirror daily to see if I noticed anything! I found myself even more encouraged to continue on, past my 28 days, because of the way my skin now looks and feel without makeup.
All I need now, are permanent eyebrows and I would be on top of the world.

But have you tried the Olay Luminous line? If you have issues with hyperpigmentation, dark spots, or are looking for a new line to give a whirl, then I have to say that you give this a try.
Have you tried the line? What did you think? Are you good at staying on top of a skin care regimen? Let’s discuss!

Your skin is perfect ! May have to try this…I had a great aunt who passed in her 80s. She used regular Olay, and had great skin. ð
Olay of your great aunts time was probably not the same. Just keep in mind above all else to research ingredients. Most Olay products are full of mineral oil (byproduct of crude oil being processed for gasoline), silicones, and other emollients that offer no actual moisturizing benefits. They just feel nice. You can google each skincare ingredient to learn what’s really in your stuff. You deserve to know what is really going on your skin â¤ï¸

*definitely mean no disrespect to you, Curvy Fashionista. I know you have an empire to run. As a professional Aesthetician, I have to always speak the truth when it comes to skin. Educating and helping is my life â¤ï¸
Michelle Nicole amen! My sister makes cold-processed soap and used all natural ingredients. The difference her products has made with my skin in AMAZING! I stopped putting all those chemical laden detergents on my face and use only her soaps and a few oils. It doesnât take expensive skin care and crazy regimens to have beautiful skin.
*Also, no disrespect to The Curvy Fashionista
Tamarrai Smith cold- processed soap? I gotta look into that!
Where can I buy Olay? Line
Target, CVS, Walgreens! I actually share the links in the posts 🙂
That stuff is good and reasonably priced too.
I admire you. What you are doing on your website is phenomenal. Sometimes I want to do things like this too and I use to dream of being a plus size model, but of course I’m only 5’4. You inspire me truly. Who knows, one day I might just take the plunge. Thank you…
