About Deb Shops

Deb Shops traces its roots to 1932, when founders Philip Rounick and Aaron Weiner opened a Philadelphia hosiery store called JOY Hosiery. Over the following decades, the company expanded into women’s fashion retail and eventually rebranded as Deb Shops, becoming a recognizable mall-based retailer across the United States. At its peak, Deb Shops operated hundreds of stores nationwide and became known for affordable fashion aimed primarily at junior and young adult consumers. The retailer offered dresses, denim, footwear, lingerie, accessories, outerwear, and occasionwear, while gradually expanding its plus-size offerings as demand for inclusive sizing increased. Following bankruptcy proceedings and the closure of its physical stores in 2015, Deb Shops re-emerged as an online retailer with a stronger emphasis on plus-size fashion. The brand focused on trend-driven styles at accessible prices and built a following among shoppers looking for affordable fashion options. Today, the Deb Shops name continues to operate online under different ownership, offering apparel, footwear, accessories, swimwear, intimates, and occasionwear with a continued focus on affordable fashion for curvy consumers.
