Founded in 2008 by sisters Yukia Walker and Yuneisia Harris, Curvaceous Couture Bridal was established after recognizing the lack of welcoming bridal salons for plus-size women. Rather than asking brides to imagine how a gown might look in their size, the boutique built its entire business around carrying sample gowns specifically for fuller figures. Located in Columbia, Maryland, Curvaceous Couture specializes exclusively in plus-size bridal fashion, offering wedding gowns, veils, accessories, and bridal styling services. The boutique carries leading designers including Essense of Australia, Stella York, Allure Bridals, Maggie Sottero, Rebecca Ingram, and other respected bridal labels, with sample sizes ranging from 16 to 32W. The salon gained national recognition through TLC’s reality series Curvy Brides, which premiered in 2014. The show followed Walker and Harris as they helped plus-size brides navigate the wedding dress shopping experience while promoting body confidence and inclusive bridal fashion. The series introduced millions of viewers to the challenges plus-size brides often face and highlighted the importance of specialized bridal boutiques. Today, Curvaceous Couture Bridal continues to serve brides from across the United States. The boutique is recognized for its personalized appointments, inclusive atmosphere, and extensive collection of designer gowns created specifically for curvy brides.
