Founded by Olamide Olowe and Claudia Teng, Topicals seeks to transform the way consumers feel about their skin by celebrating the fun of flare-ups.
Topicals have made its name thanks to the inclusive community the brand created around real, positive, and authentic discussions about their skin.
The revolutionary, Black owned beauty brand that targets eczema and hyperpigmentation is now available at Sephora.com!
“I’m so excited to be part of The Sephora Accelerate program, and to launch on Sephora.com,” said Olamide Olowe, Co-founder of Topicals.
“Sephora is the best at storytelling and creating fun beauty experiences. Chronic skin conditions have never been a part of the beauty conversation and I’m excited to be partnering with Sephora to change the narrative to celebrate funner flare-ups.”
Olamide Olowe, Founder of Topicals.
Topicals Origin Story
While the brand launched in August of 2020, it was born out of necessity. One in four Americans live with chronic skin conditions, and because of this, costly doctor visits and prescriptions are often avoided because one just “learns to live with it.”
Olamide knows this all too well. She grew up settling for products that didn’t really serve her or represent how the condition appeared on her skin. She set out to create effective and luxurious products that are carefully formulated to tackle skin conditions like eczema, hyperpigmentation, psoriasis, and more — but don’t break the bank.
Giving Back to the Community
Since chronic skin conditions often lead to serious mental health issues because of the stigma, shame, and embarrassment often felt by those with them, Topicals is donating a minimum of 1% of profits to various mental health organizations.
Topicals have donated over $20,000 to date and partnered with Sad Girls Club, Therapy for Black Girls, Fearless Femme 100, Asian Mental Health Collective, Loveland Therapy Foundation, and the JED Foundation.
When it comes to the brand, Topicals currently offers two products: Faded and Like Butter.
Like Butter is a thick, whipped, moisturizing mask packed with powerful botanicals, like green tea, oatmeal, turmeric, and ginseng root to restore dry, flaky skin and fortify the skin’s damaged moisture barrier.
Faded is a gel serum that contains kojic acid, niacinamide, and licorice root to balance skin tone, smooth rough, and textured skin, and revive tired skin.
