I have a sweet spot for my Gaelle. The French plus size blogger at The Curvy and Curly Closet has been doing her thing over the past few years with plus size fashion over there, most recently with her Booty Therapy US Tour fundraiser! BUT, today I have to share with you the latest and coolest collaboration coming from Gaelle- the Bélya X Vanoue Collection!
I am so happy about this collection for Gaelle! This idea came from Aissatou Sene, a Senegalese creative, who has always wanted to dress all women. The Bélya X Vanoue Collection is the result of Aissatou Sene and Gaelle Vanoue for the first ever plus size collection from the brand.
When thinking about this Belay plus size woman, they realized that her “beauty is like the sun, powerful, enlightening and gravitating, being in her orbit is a choice of acceptance and grace.”
I mean… HEY BOO! I love this! The woman they describe sounds amazing- SO AMAZING.
First Look at Bélya X Vanoue Collection
No stranger to the Senegalese wax prints, for Gaelle, this was a natural extension of herself as she shares:
The happy memories I have of my mom and my aunts fabulously dressed in the wax cloths have given me this passion for wax and the chic and elegance which emanates every time you arrive. The wax is also and foremost the identity of Black Africa so it was only natural that I wanted to participate in this adventure with Belya reinterpreting it…
I can see myself in a few of these pieces; there is something regal and effortless about it! When elaborating on the collaboration, Belay shares:
We continued on to define some of her most adoring traits among them is confidence, personality and sensuality. Focusing on her physical beauty and expression each article was handmade from the ground up envisioning every curve, gracious move and persuasive smile. Every dress is as unique as the person meant to wear it.
