To don designer duds on one of her most important days in her life, a plus size woman could once cream and hope that her bank account had a few more zeros at the end. However, that no longer needs to be true nor does it have to be a dream.
A while back, we shared with you about the partnership with David’s Bridal and the ever so talented designer Vera Wang. And guess what? It is here!
White by Vera Wang has launched its spring collection and guess what? This collection- in both Bridal and Bridesmaid collection includes plus sizes up to a size 26! Not only did Miss Vera Wang create dresses, she fashions headpieces and shoes to complete the look!
What can you expect from White by Vera Wang Spring Collection?
The collection offers up nine styles (four of which are in PLUS SIZES), priced between $500-$1,500. Vera Wang fashions different styles for varying tastes and styles with strapless gowns in taffeta and gazaar with asymmetrically draped bodices in shades of white, ivory and blush.
To help you out, I have the four bridal gowns made in Plus Sizes for your reference! I am already envisioning my favorite one… should I be looking or dreaming?
For the White by Vera Wang Bridesmaid dresses?
Erase what you thought of the traditional bridesmaid dress stigma, White by Vera Wang gives us stylish cocktail dresses with contemporary details such as an illusion or asymmetrical necklines, bubbled hem skirts, and asymmetrically draped silhouettes.
They are quite cute! With each dress right under $200 and available up to a size 26, your bridal party will thank you!
Which looks do YOU love?
You can view the entire collection at White by Vera Wang exclusively for David’s Bridal! For you blushing brides to be (or those who wanderlust over this day), how amaze is this?
They’re very pretty but I’m wondering why they didn’t use plus size models. It would make the dresses more credible. I don’t want to see a size 0 in something that fits up to a size 26. Let’s at least see a size 16 or 18. Hopefully David’s Bridal sees this and rethinks their marketing stance.
I am wondering if because they only used one model for the dresses? I am not sure… but seeing it available does give me hope and excitement… Trying to see the light here? maybe?
My thoughts exactly . . . let’s see what a plus size girl looks like in these dresses!
🙂 Maybe I will connect with my friend who works there and who is getting married soon! There may be a part two? lol
I had the same thoughts
I thought so too… but I loved the dresses and was really excited and had to share… :/
I’m not seeing how 2 of the bridal gowns and much of the bridesmaids dresses would be plus size friendly. They seem to be made for people in the mid ranges with most flat bellies and small amounts of rolly bits lol… I know I couldn’t rock anything but the last 2 gowns and I’m a size 22.
I will look into it more! 🙂 I think depending on different shapes some may or may not work… I know the big poof wouldnt work that well for me, but it may for others… so we shall see! 🙂
It actually works well, creates an awesome waist!
They’re beautiful but I’m not sure a size 26 would work in these styles. I’m an 18-20 and I couldn’t see any of these as an option….but, at least there’s an option. Sane goes for the bridal party dresses….Im glad the size options are there, but I’m not sure these would be figure flattering on anyone above a 16 or 18. Just my thoughts.
I smell a challenge.. I am going to enlist my friend… LOL
Ok I’m not getting married any time soon, but I will totally stake out my local David’s Bridal and try them on just to see how they work on a plus size lady. Who shall I send the pictures to??
Send em to me… I will share!!!!!
These dresses are really not plus friendly in my view. They aren’t styled with our figures in mind, they are blown up versions of skinny girl dresses. When oh when are designers going to start designing for US!?
What would have worked? Some kind of sleeve beautifully cut to create a long line from neck to wrist… perhaps lace or organza, or even illusion … with the point being to avoid the hulking linebacker/ spilling out of the dress look. A structured shoulder, moving in to a deep v neck. Depending on the body, could be a princess neck, a portrait collar, something a bit more jacket -like (reference Duchess Kate). Snug fitting bust line into a snug band just under the waist. Depending on the body type, either an empire shape, or a curve hugging sheath shape, or a corsette body. If The body is pear shaped a ball gown skirt works. If it is curvy and proportionate, the mermaid shape would be drop dead gorgeous. If the body is apple shaped, follow the narrowest part under the bust as long as its flattering, then move into either an empire or an a-line shape. From THAT point start the skirt embellishment if the bride must have it.
I would rather see exquisite fabric and workmanship, and couture crisp lines than bouffant volume. Plus size doen’t need MORE volume, it needs the volume we already have to be beautifully draped!
I was married 2 years ago, and had to design my own dress and have it made. I used the best white raw silk I could find, used a coat like structure with sleeves, and an undergarment in a contrasting fabric to create a lean, long line. I chose to put beadwork under the bust line to create a nice curve. The dress was a total hit, with many people commenting on how perfectly it suited me. I would have loved to just be able to go and buy it, without all that trouble!
I wish my future sister in law had chosen one of those bridesmaids gowns for us to wear. Lovely!
Right? I know… This kind of haves me thinking fab thoughts… and I do not even daydream about getting married! LOL
I’m RIGHT there with my predecessor “Impeccableimage”. Well spoken!
