Two Curvy Fashionistas bring a hit and miss for the Golden Globes: Amber Riley vs. Gabby Sidibe

Sharing is caring!

Last night, Twitter was abuzz with commentary, especially myself (who ended up in Twitter jail for an hour!) about the delectable parade of fashion hits, bores, misses, and the what were they thinking at the Golden Globes!

Amber Riley

One of my FAVORITE Curvy Fashionistas on the red carpet right now held nothing back for the event. Shutting it down in an Oliver Tolentino, Amber Riley sparkled and shined in this head to toe sequins number which I loved! Maybe the belt a touch bit higher, but she made me smile and yell to the TV- You better work!

Gabby Sidibe

On the other end of the spectrum, Gabby Sidibe went waaaaaaaaaaaay to casual- almost to the beach casual in a Marc Bower dress. I wish she had more sparkle and shine as our other curvy fashionista! The floral print, interesting length, I mean, the silhouette was okay, but I LOVE seeing her in emeralds, navys, and puples and if she rocked a bold textured or solid dress in that silhouette, it COULD have worked!

I love you Gabby, but THIS was not the best look for you!

On another note…

I Died for the trends shown on the red carpet last night!

Emerald Green, Nudes, and the sophisticated return of BLACK! There I said it- black! Hehehehe! Glamour was amped up, the hair was… interesting, the accessories were just as much a statement as the dress!

I cannot wait for the Grammy’s from seeing these looks at the Golden Globes!

What did you think?

  1. i wish gabby had a better stylist… or a stlist at all that undestands how to dress curvies beautifully… unfortunately almost everything i see her is is horrible… there is said it! i don’t really spend my time searching, but whtever i see her in she always looks way to casual, awkward or inappropriate. she is beautiful enough… someone just needs to come and help her get it all together in one show stopping package because it’s totally possible

  2. I certainly agree with you. I loved how much back was shown. The bare back is such a sexy look, don’t you think?

  3. yes Amber shut it down! That dress fit and was on trend with the one sleeve metallic look. But oh Gabby! I just want to grab her and have a one on one style session. Her hair and fit is never right and she is a pretty girl, there’s no reason for all the misses.

  4. I don’t think Gabs was dressy enough but I thought she looked great and carried herself well. Amber has been a shining star for all of 2010 on the red carpet. She started the year off well.

  5. Heheheh… you know, I would agree with you all other times, but this was the red carpet… kicking off the red carpet… she has HAD some AMAZING looks for the curvy fashionista I just wanted more!

  6. I love Amber’s style. She always looks fabulous, playing up her curves instead of hiding them. Gabby often misses the mark to me. Her stylist makes her look older than what she really is and not in a good way. She needs to be more playful and youthful with her clothing. She has the most beautiful skin ever. She needs to highlight it and showcase it to the world.
