About the Index
What is the TCF Plus Size Fashion Index?
The TCF Plus Size Fashion Index is an editorially curated resource built by The Curvy Fashionista to document the full landscape of plus size fashion. It covers three pillars: the Brand Index, the Boutique Directory, and the Designer Index: tracking who’s building, selling, and designing for the plus size community in one organized, searchable place.
Who created the TCF Plus Size Fashion Index?
The Index was created by Marie Denee, founder of The Curvy Fashionista, a plus size fashion and lifestyle media brand with over 17 years of industry coverage. The Index is an extension of TCF’s editorial mission: to inform, support, and champion the plus size community with substance and perspective.
Is the TCF Plus Size Fashion Index free to use?
Yes. The Index is free to browse for shoppers, readers, and anyone researching the plus size fashion landscape. There is no paywall or membership required to access brand, boutique, or designer profiles.
How is the TCF Plus Size Fashion Index different from other fashion directories?
The Index is editorially driven, not algorithmically generated. Every entry is reviewed by The Curvy Fashionista editorial team. The Index also documents fit details, size ranges, retail models, and designer backgrounds at a level of specificity that generic fashion databases don’t provide, with plus size shoppers as the primary audience, not an afterthought.
How often is the Index updated?
The Index is updated on a rolling basis as new brands, boutiques, and designers are reviewed and added. Existing entries are also updated when sizing, availability, or other details change.
For TCF Readers and Shoppers
What can I find in the TCF Plus Size Fashion Index?
The Index includes three searchable archives: the Brand Index with 100+ plus size fashion brands, the Boutique Directory covering independent boutiques, online shops, resale destinations, and specialty retailers, and the Designer Index profiling the creatives shaping plus size fashion. Each entry includes details on size range, categories, price point, fit specialization, and more.
How do I search for brands in my size range?
Each archive has a filter system that lets you browse by size range, category, price point, retail model, and other attributes. Use the filter tools on the Brand Index, Boutique Directory, or Designer Index pages to narrow results by what matters most to you.
Does the Index include physical boutiques I can visit in person?
Yes. The TCF Boutique Directory focuses specifically on boutiques that serve plus size shoppers, online and in person. Every boutique in the directory carries plus size fashion as a primary focus, not an afterthought. Physical location profiles include address, store hours, parking details, and appointment information where available.
Does the Index include resale and vintage plus size shops?
Yes. The Boutique Directory tracks plus size resale destinations and curated vintage shops alongside independent boutiques and online retailers. You can filter by retail model to find resale and vintage options specifically.
Are all brands in the Index exclusively plus size?
Not all. Some brands in the Index design exclusively for plus size bodies. Others are retailers that have meaningfully extended their size ranges. Our Methodology outlines exactly how we evaluate both types for inclusion, the key distinction is whether plus size shoppers are genuinely served, not just technically accommodated.
For Brands, Boutiques & Designers
How do I get my brand listed in the TCF Plus Size Fashion Index?
Submit your brand for editorial review using the Get Listed form on our submission page. Include your business name, website, size range, product categories, and a short description. Our editorial team reviews submissions on a rolling basis.
How do I get my boutique listed in the TCF Boutique Directory?
Use the same Get Listed submission form and indicate that your submission is for a boutique. Include your retail model (online, physical, or both), size range carried, categories, and location if you have a physical storefront. Submissions are reviewed on a rolling basis.
How do I submit a designer for the TCF Designer Index?
Submit the designer using our Get Listed form and indicate it is a designer submission. Include the designer’s name, brand affiliation if applicable, design focus, and any relevant press or portfolio links. Submissions are reviewed on a rolling basis.
Does submitting guarantee inclusion in the Index?
No. Submission opens the door to editorial review but does not guarantee inclusion. Every submission is evaluated against our editorial criteria, size range, relevance to the plus size community, and overall fit with the Index. If a submission meets our criteria it may be added in a future update.
Is there a fee to be listed in the Index?
No. Inclusion in the TCF Plus Size Fashion Index is based on editorial review, not payment. There is no fee to submit or to be listed. From time to time TCF may offer featured placement opportunities as a separate editorial partnership, these are always clearly disclosed and distinct from standard Index listings.
How long does the review process take?
Our editorial team reviews submissions on a rolling basis. We do not have a guaranteed response window but every submission is read and considered.
Can I update my brand, boutique, or designer profile after it’s been added?
Yes. If your information changes: size range, website, store hours, or other details, reach out to us and our editorial team will review the update. Keeping Index entries accurate is a priority.
Can I recommend a brand, boutique, or designer I’m not affiliated with?
Absolutely. Community recommendations are one of the ways we discover new entries for the Index. Use the Get Listed form and let us know you’re submitting a recommendation rather than your own business.
Editorial & Methodology
How does TCF decide what gets included in the Index?
Entries are evaluated by The Curvy Fashionista editorial team based on criteria outlined in our Methodology. For brands we consider size range, product categories, availability, and commitment to plus size shoppers. For boutiques we consider retail model, size range carried, and fit focus. For designers we consider creative contribution, brand affiliation, and relevance to the plus size fashion community.
What does “plus size” mean in the context of the Index?
For the purposes of the Index we generally consider brands, boutiques, and designers that serve customers in US size 14 and above. However, inclusion is not based on a single size number. We also evaluate how consistently extended sizes are offered, whether plus sizes are integrated or treated as an add-on, and how the brand presents and markets to plus size consumers.
Does TCF accept payment for listings or editorial coverage?
No. Standard Index listings are based entirely on editorial review. TCF maintains full editorial independence over the Index. Featured placement opportunities may be available as a separate partnership and will always be clearly disclosed when they occur.
Can a brand be removed from the Index?
Entries in the TCF Plus Size Fashion Index are not removed. If a brand discontinues its plus size offering, closes, or no longer meets our active criteria, its profile will be updated to reflect that status accurately. The Index serves as a historical record of the plus size fashion landscape. A brand’s presence in the community doesn’t disappear just because their business direction changed, and that history has value.
Who do I contact if I have a question not answered here?
