Violeta by Mango

Launched in January 2014, Violeta by Mango marked Mango’s first dedicated extended-size fashion line. Developed by a specialized in-house design team, the collection was created to deliver the same modern, European-inspired aesthetic as Mango’s main line while using patterns engineered specifically for curvier bodies instead of simply grading up straight-size garments. The brand offered dresses, denim, tailoring, knitwear, outerwear, occasionwear, and accessories in EU sizes 40-54, quickly expanding throughout Europe before launching in the United States later in 2014. Violeta became known for its polished, minimalist styling, accessible luxury, and contemporary silhouettes that appealed to women seeking elevated everyday fashion. Although the launch generated discussion about the fashion industry’s approach to plus-size marketing, Violeta helped increase visibility for size-inclusive collections among major international retailers. Over the following years, the brand expanded its assortment to more than 500 styles each season while maintaining its focus on fashionable clothing designed specifically for curves. In 2021, Mango retired the standalone Violeta brand and integrated its patternmaking team and collections into the company’s primary Woman line. Rather than reducing size options, Mango expanded its core collection to include garments up to EU size 54 (4XL), making extended sizing part of the main brand instead of a separate label.
