Loud Bodies

Founded in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, by designer Patricia Luiza Blaj, Loud Bodies was created after Blaj became frustrated with the fashion industry’s lack of colorful, fashion-forward clothing available in larger sizes. She envisioned a brand where ethical production, sustainability, and true size inclusivity would exist together rather than as separate goals. Loud Bodies became known for whimsical dresses, dramatic sleeves, voluminous skirts, statement outerwear, and romantic silhouettes crafted from natural fibers including linen, organic cotton, EcoVero™ viscose, and TENCEL™. Every collection was designed simultaneously across its full size range, ensuring customers from XXS through 10XL received the same garments rather than scaled-up versions of straight-size styles. The brand’s commitment to ethical fashion extended beyond materials. Garments were produced in small batches by a local team in Romania, employees were paid well above the local living wage, orders were packaged using recycled materials, and fabric scraps were repurposed or donated rather than discarded. Loud Bodies also offered complimentary custom sizing, making its designs accessible to customers whose measurements fell outside standard size charts. In September 2024, Patricia Luiza Blaj announced the closure of Loud Bodies after nearly eight years in business. Despite its closure, the brand remains one of the most influential independent labels in sustainable, size-inclusive fashion, setting a benchmark for ethical production, extended sizing, and body-positive design.
