Founded in 2015 by Brandon Blackwood, the namesake label began as a handbag brand after Blackwood transitioned from studying neuroscience to pursuing fashion. Early success came through editorial placements in Essence and Elle, but the company experienced explosive growth in 2020 with the release of its End Systemic Racism (ESR) tote, which became a viral fashion statement supporting racial justice. Today, Brandon Blackwood offers handbags, footwear, sunglasses, outerwear, swimwear, jewelry, and ready-to-wear. The brand is known for sculptural handbags such as the Kendrick Trunk, vibrant colors, architectural silhouettes, and luxury-quality materials at contemporary price points. In 2024, the company launched BB Studio, its first apparel collection featuring wardrobe basics including dresses, bodysuits, tanks, skirts, and pants.
