Tru DIva Designs at Full Figured Fashion Week 2015Have you been following long on Facebook and Instagram? There has been such a buzz around the shows from the 7th Full Figured Fashion Week and today, I am here to share with you the looks that wowed during the Indie Designer Showcase! The designers and models brought it for an eager and fashion hungry audience.

If you have never had the pleasure of attending FFFWeek, I strongly suggest that you get there while you can and experience it at least once! Each year that I attend, there is a new vibe, new designers, and different events and crowds that make each FFFWeek one to remember! I have been to each one, since inception and I have to say that I always leaving falling in love with a designer or two! Speaking of fashion, let us get to the designers from the indie show, yes?!

Set at the Broad Street Ball room and to a fancy backdrop, with the theme of Garden of Eden, we were treated to TWELVE designers (Including a boot presentation!) Some we fancy, some were edgy, some were playful. There was literally something for everyone and more than a few that surprised me!

FFFWeek Indie Designer Showcase

FFFWeek Designer of the Year: Tru Diva Designs

Tru Diva Designs is no stranger to The Curvy Fashionista and FFFWeek! Known for her edgy, bold, and playful looks, Tru Diva Designs brings a unique voice to the plus size designer space. Disappointed by the lack of options for plus sized women, Veronica got a sewing machine and learned how to sew. Self-taught, Veronica began making her own clothes that not only complimented her curvy physique, but also stood out from what department stores offered.

Tru DIva Designs at Full Figured Fashion Week 2015 Her vision for Tru Diva is to make quality clothing that is both unique and flattering for plus sized women. Veronica feels that every woman deserves to feel sexy no matter what shape or size; Tru Diva gives curvier women a place to buy clothes that do just that. Her goal is to take plus sized fashion to a level that the world has yet to see. And for FFFWeek, she brought it!

Hannah Caroline Couture

This designer blew me away. I met Hannah at the beginning of FFFWeek, learning that she was JUST 19 years old! WHAT? Already inspired, I was curious and intrigued to see what she had to say fashionably speaking… and she did not disappoint! After learning how to sew as a student at Millard West High School, she started making clothes for herself when she couldn’t find what she wanted in the stores. She also taught herself how to design by watching YouTube videos and reading blogs she found on Pinterest. Come on inspiration!

With already 11 fashion shows under belt, still in college for business, and a clear voice on what she wants to deliver, Hannah is surely a voice to be reckoned with and I have to admit, I did have a few tears after she finished presenting, especially after hearing the roars of support from the crowd. I was so damned proud and happy for her! See why!

Curves Make A Woman by Bobbi Harris

“There’s more to making plus size clothing than just making average size clothing larger!” Designer Bobbi Harris exclaims as to the impetus of her collection.

“Plus size women have curves and their clothes should be accented, tailored, and fitted. I have many plus size friends and any time we would go shopping, I would be able to find an outfit quickly while my friends struggled … I wanted to create a line where plus size women didn’t have to compromise on quality or price. I wanted women with curves to be able to run to a store or shop online and confidently buy clothing knowing it would fit properly.”

Showcasing for the first time at FFFWeek, this designer gave us a variety of styles and silhouettes to play in and here are our faves from the collection!

Boots By Pamela

The quest for wide width boots never ends! As many times as we have rounded up boots, like myself, I can and NEVER tire of more and here to give us JUST that is boots designer, Boots by Pamela! Boots By Pamela (BBP) is a new company that was created for those of us who have craved a fashionable boot that FITS. “Every girl deserves to have a great pair of Fashionable Boots!” says Owner/Designer, Pamela Ammeter.Boots by Pamela at Full Figured Fashion Week 2015 8

“I could never understand why shoe companies did not see or fill this missing piece in the market? It then came to me in a store surrounded by numerous pairs of boots that didn’t fit, that I would start my own company and fill this niche in the market and BBP was born!”

Taking her experience with 15 years of working in the fashion industry with everything from Textiles, Merchandising to Buying and Designing, Pamela took this experience to fashion and design a high quality boot for the lady with a larger calf.  Boots by Pamela delivers various styles of riding boots, over the knee boots, and great night out heels!

I’Me designs

Pronounced “I’m Me,” the slogan is “Why be anybody else?” Created by Jeanetta Thomas, the company motto is grounded in the belief that it is much easier to be yourself and be comfortable in your own skin versus trying to be someone else. Can I get an AMEN?  I’Me designs are focused on uniqueness and providing a variety of styles. I was pleasantly surprised and entertained as there were more than a few option that piqued my interest!

“I’Me designs provide style that speaks before lips can utter a word.”

Misty Belvidere

I have been watching this Australian designer from afar and with the chance to finally meet her and to see her collection up close; I was elated and quite pleased! Misty Belvidere brought her latest collection “Tropiflora” to Full Figured Fashion Week and wowed with her digital printing and high-quality fabrics in styles that celebrate a feminine figure. Misty Belvidere doesn’t apologize for having hips and allows women to embrace the confidence in fashion like their standard-sized sisters. “All women want the same thing, and that’s to look and feel beautiful.”

Misty Belvidere at Full Figured Fashion Week 2015 Designer Miss Kate has vowed to bring sophistication and innovative designs to plus-size fashion. A graduate of Fashion Design and lover of self-expression through ensembles!

Just Curves

I have such a sweet spot for this designer who successfully funded her Kickstarter campaign to bring to us a kick ass activewear line- Just Curves by Yolanda Williams. Just Curves is a retail activewear company, dedicated to providing on-trend, affordable, and fashionable activewear to plus size women sizes 10-28. The body-positive activewear brand encourages women to love themselves, no matter their size, striving for health and creating their own standard of beauty.

Just Curves at Full Figured Fashion Week 2015 3Just Curves combines the support of shapewear, with the function of activewear, and the fun of street-wear to offer transitional athleisure wear that will turn heads in and out of the gym.  The new collection debuting at FFFWeek® features bright pops of colors and modern, figure-flattering cuts which blurs the line between gym-wear and street-wear.  All garments are made in the U.S.A.

Serita BellSerita Bell at Full Figured Fashion Week 2015 7

Serita Bell is a contemporary, ready-to-wear clothing line for curvy women. The line is edgy and sexy with feminine silhouettes. This line is definitely NOT for the shy or demure. And you may have seen them before- sold on Ideel for a bit! I sure did snatch a dress from them on there! So when I saw that they were showcasing at FFFWeek? I got hyped!

The designer’s technical knowledge of a garment’s proper fit, combined with her innovative ideas wowed the crowd and left me wanting to add a few items to my closet- Like STAT!
