New York Fashion Week is a magical yet chaotic cultural phenomenon where the fashion industry comes together while creating impactful moments in time. Dreams can genuinely come true overnight with a well-executed, attention-grabbing visual presentation that takes teamwork to build. With that being said, Curve and Plus Size models alike were showcased at this year’s
EDITOR’s Note: Today, we welcome a guest post from Rivke from Slink Magazine who attended the UK Press premiere of the ASOS Curve Spring Line. This is a first for ASOS Curve, so I wanted to share with you what is happening with the brand! Please take a read!
This week, saw the very first ASOS Curve event and the team decided to throw a gorgeous and intimate dinner for some of the UK based, plus size press.
Held on the 40th Floor of the Heron Tower, in the legendary Duck and Waffle, we were treated to a private dining suite where we got to check out the collection!
The S/S’13 drop really shows why ASOS Curve is really leading the way in terms of fast, on trend fashion for plus size women. Flicking through the rail there were nods to catwalk designers and trends, such as Alexander Wang with a metallic sleeved sweater and holographic striped tee. And that was thing that really struck me about the S/S’13 offering. It was fresh and fashionable and didn’t feel like a plus collection. I could’ve been browsing the rail at Topshop, as the styles were so on point, they just happened to come in size curvy!
This season ASOS Curve showed us a mix of dress down, festival, frivolity with denim shorts, playsuits, scarf print culottes and paisley bomber jackets and sophisticated party dresses that featured laces, intricate bead and sequin embellishment and one of my favorites, a lime and cream maxi dress that would be perfect for a summer party.
Speaking to the buyer for Curve, her passion for the line and the product offering was clear and her vision of a fashionable line that pushes boundaries and doesn’t make concessions based on size over style was so clearly demonstrated by the exciting product offering. Bursting with print, on trend tones of coral and sweet like embellished detailing there were so many different silhouettes that the ASOS curve range definitely has a shape to suit every body type. I for one will be raiding my piggy bank come April.
**Late last week, ASOS Curve rocked a NY Press event! So jealous that we could not be there, but if they have one in California, I am there with BELLS ON!!!!!!! **
Are you excited for what Spring has in store for ASOS Curve? We are really happy to see them put press behind the plus size brand!
