Target has definitely proven itself to be a bastion of the plus size community. Whether it was the launch of Universal Thread, inclusion of plus sizes in the Victoria Beckham capsule, the Who What Wear Collection in plus sizes, including wide width shoes, the various lookbook from the Ava & Viv collection, and most recently, the addition with their Big & Tall collection!

But, how do you feel about the Target plus size options in store?

Well, it looks like the beloved retail giant is taking even further steps! It is almost like they are reading our comments, this site, and listening to us…

You know how we can’t go into the store and push those infamous red carts without buying double what we came in there for? Well, double is the magic word because that’s how much Target is expanding its in-store plus size offerings!

Target Plus Size In Store Options to Double by end of 2018 According to Biz Journal, Target will expand its in store options to offer plus size women apparel in about 300 stores by the end of 2018. That’s twice as many, compared to the 150 that currently offer these options.

Not only will the number of stores be expanding, but the actual section will increase as well. No more sorry little corner of the store, mixed in with maternity, hidden next to the clearance section… hopefully.

It makes sense after all, given the average women’s size, our call outs for inclusion, and our call out to them about their plus size departments!

Salute to Target!

“It’s all about providing guests with great style regardless of their size,” said Target spokeswoman Jessica Carlson.

The store will add items such as swimwear, athletic apparel, and lingerie. Say word? Lingerie? This is curious…

I mean, it is like everyone is starting to wake up to the plus size shopper… wait until you hear the news we have to share tomorrow…

Get this!

The mannequin display will accurately match the clothes the store sells. Target will increase the amount of different sized mannequins this year, too!

Last year, the retail store added mannequins sized 4 through 22 in roughly 500 stores.

Yet another double-down will happen, because Target strives to add a diverse variety of mannequins in 1,000 of its stores, Carson confirmed.

Target is not the only player taking note to the plus size market and making intentional and huge changes… oh no.

Other stores joining Target’s plus size party is Nordstrom, REI, and Neiman Marcus! Even Nike began offering sizes ranging up through a 3X.

You can shop the newness now, at Target.com

When was the last time you checked out their newest arrivals? They have been adding some really cute options for us plus size (and Big & Tall) shoppers and we are here for it all…

What do you think about Target’s expansion? Does your local Target currently offer plus size apparel? If so, do you feel it’s currently adequate?

How do you really feel about the Target plus size departments? Is yours one, that is fancy?

Let’s talk about what an ideal upgraded Target would look like, in the comments below!

Except here’s the thing. I wear a size 18-20 pants in their Universal threads brand – it varies because they can’t keep sizes consistent between different colors… Even if they’re the same cut. Whenever I try on a target dress, I have to go up to a 3x to get it to fit over my thighs. Their plus-size clothing used to be really cute, but at some point my local store at the very least has gone back to just having the frumpiest outfits. Target gained my patronage when they first started their plus-size clothing, but they’ve lost it this season do to their inconsistent sizes and offerings.

Honestly I found this article well trying to search for wtf happened to their sizing and selection
