NYFW: Tadashi Shoji Fall 2013 Runway Show
As I entered the room for the Tadashi Shoji 2013 Runway Show I was excited and giddy. I knew that his Fall 2013 collection was inspired by the Russian Empire and the fall of its imperial ruling. Basically it is the story of royalty ruling their kingdom and then their fall and demise. It seems like the perfect inspiration for a movie but this time it became the romantic tale of every dress that Tadashi Shoji presented at his runway show.
The textures were rich and luxurious. Each model that took a step onto the white runway brought with her a look of exquisite beauty. It made you want to jump back in time and fight for your kingdom while wearing a gorgeous dress and not a hair out of place. Tales are not easily told through fashion. But Tadashi managed to do just that by stealing you away and getting you lost in the details of lace, chiffon, and velvet. You were beautifully blinded by the black, ivory, sapphire, burgundy and deep amber colors of each dress. His story was evident. That as a woman sometimes all we want is a little bit of romance and each detail of his collection made you a believer.
