Love Letter 2 Fat People
February 28 @ 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm

An evening devoted to fat QTBIPOC joy, artistry, remembrance, and resistance.
Love Letter to Fat People is a gathering created for fat QTBIPOC folks and the people who love us. It is a space where our stories are centered, our bodies are celebrated, and our creativity is treated as sacred. This is the first of what promises to be many intentional convenings uplifting fat QTBIPOC experiences and imagination.
The night invites guests into an intimate journey of storytelling and poetry with featured artists Devon Devine, aja lenae, and Joanna Villegas, whose work explores tenderness, survival, pleasure, and power through a fat liberation lens.
An altar will be present in honor of our fat ancestors. Guests are invited to bring a small offering to recognize those who taught us how to live unapologetically, those who were denied the chance to feel beloved in their bodies, and those who dreamed of the liberation we continue to build. This collective remembrance grounds the evening in gratitude and lineage.
For those ready to share their own magic, an open mic creates space for community voices to rise. Whether poetry, reflection, or story, your expression is welcome.
The gathering also includes hands on ritual and joy. Create a custom herbal jar with Mia Acosta, and explore pleasure centered offerings from Pleasure Brujita. The evening will be documented by photographer Destiny, capturing the beauty and brilliance of the space.
Tickets are offered on a sliding scale from $5 to $20, with a firm commitment to No One Turned Away For Lack Of Funds. Those with the means are encouraged to give generously. Proceeds are shared equally, with half supporting Nomadic Bookshop and half going directly to the artists who make the night possible.
This is more than an event. It is devotion.
To our bodies.
To our stories.
To the fat futures we deserve.
