In an interesting and fun twist of events, Neiman Marcus, who removed plus sizes out of their main line department stores, years back, has had a turn of heart! In an effort to turn around their sales and recognizing the lack of options in contemporary plus size fashion and better, Neiman Marcus is turning to the plus size market to give us what we need! On February 18th, Neiman Marcus Last Call will debut their Curvy Chic department at five Last Call stores!
Frank Crisci, vice president of merchandising at Neiman Marcus Last Call tells WWD, “There is a lot of product out there but a curated assortment of Tahari, Lafayette 148, Eileen Fisher [et al] is harder to find.”
Um. Yes.
And I could not be more intrigued and curious about this venture! I mean, it is all about options, value, and the 20 billion dollar market, right? And with designers like Marina, Nic + Zoe, Julia Jordan, NYDJ and Marc NY Performance, just as an example, how cool would this be? I do love a good deal and sale… don’t you? More interesting, is the fact that they will also include a few brands that are exclusive to Neiman Marcus/Last Call!
Now this is not just any department… a landing pad with racks of clothing… from the sounds of it, Curvy Chic is going to be a destination of sorts! Calling them “in-store boutiques” the Curvy Chic departments will be span 750 square feet and “feature contemporary and bridge branded activewear, day and evening dresses, tops, jeans, pants, sweaters and coats sized up to 3X and 14 to 24.”
“We were really looking to elevate the assortment, to give the customer great brands on trend, in season and in her size at a value,” Crisci explained.
Okay Last Call, I see you…
So where will these five stores be?
The plus-size departments will be located in Last Call stores at Sugarloaf Mills in Lawrenceville, Ga.; Grapevine Mills, Grapevine, Tex.; Great Lakes Crossing Outlets in Auburn Mills, Mich.; Miromar Outlets in Estero, Fla., and Arundel Mills in Hanover, Md.
So guess where I will be on the 18th? Lawrenceville, Ga, casing out the Curvy Chic department at Last Call!
Even if you are not near a Curvy Chic location, you can shop plus sizes at LastCall.com!
How cool is this? Have you shopped at Neiman Marcus or Last Call in the past? How does this make you feel? I am so curious…
How did you find the stores it will be carried?
I share in the post! ð
Shayla Victoria Vain we’re getting one at Arundel Mills…whatchu doing on the 18th? LOLOLOLOL!!
GOING WITH YOU TO SPEND ALL THESE COINS…..YUSSSSSS
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!! LMAO!!
Neiman Marcus has disrespected the plus community for years… It also is known as one of Americas worst discriminators.. They also could’ve served our community years ago…They are near bankrupt. They will try to give yoThey don’t stand behind their products like Nordstrom.
Bout time! Send one to Bklyn!
I am going to weigh in with my aging self. Last Call and the main NM have carried plus before. In the late 1990s. I can recall shopping both departments. These were the days when you had Ellen Tracy, Dana Buchman, Emanuel Ungaro and Oscar de la Renta’s plus bridge lines in existence and prior to the online shopping explosion. I’m interested in how they will source the departments. If they have a lot of Lafayette 148 New York, I can see how it would work. There aren’t many quality plus bridge lines left.
its such a shame how they have treated the plus size community.. they never wanted our business. well guess what we went to stores that did like Nordstrom…
