As a curvy fashionista who is all about her chic, I can tell you that it is hard as hell to maintain. I know that many of you feel me, especially my extended plus size girls (22+). Aside from having brands that “say (insert side eye)” they cater to plus but only go up to a 20 or 22. I know that many of you run into another roadblock that I do too; finding clothing with the proper fit.
Ugh! It drives me crazy, to finding something cute in my size only to have it fit as if it were two sizes too small. So many times, I have stood in a dressing room or my bedroom thinking WTH… because clearly, the item was far from what I needed. I told you before, I have no issue with size; I will wear what fits. However, it is a headache when what should fit doesn’t at all. Due to my sizing and fit issues, there are some retailers I just don’t shop… Period!
I would rather take my money and invest in my wardrobe in a way that is guaranteed to have my “CHIC ON FLEEK.” That guaranteed investment, is shopping with indie designers. Yes! Connect with the right indie designer or seamstress and you can take your chic to a whole different level. Clothing that is custom made for you, and not massed produced based on what is considered the portions of your size; how can you go wrong? You can’t!
Today, I want to prove to you that you can’t go wrong with indie designers. I am sharing some of my own personal looks created by indie designers and seamstress to show you exactly what I mean.

1. Jibri
They say Red Bull gives you wings but after purchasing my first dress from Jibri this year, I am convinced that Jibri gives you wind or a Beyonce fan.
2. The Wendy S. Collection
How could I not say yes to Wendy S.? This metallic retro chic skirt with a high slit gave me a life I didn’t know I had. 
3. Lavender’s Jungle
I have attempted to wear several pencil skirts but Lavender’s Jungle high waist pencil skirt is the only one I have been able to successfully pull off. 
4. G’Wan by Charon
G’wan Girl! Who said fat girls can’t rock floral prints? LIE! G’wan by Charon did her thing and had my looking “faboo” with this sheer maxi dress.
5. Diva by Tameka
I can not tell you how many times, I have tried and failed in my efforts to find the right shorts. Thanks to Diva By Tameka, I am finally able to wear them.
