How long have you been blogging?
I have been blogging for 5 years and blogging as PHAT Girl Fresh for 2 ½ years.

What or who inspired you to become a fashion blogger? What led you to it?
When blogging started to become popular I felt that women like me were not well represented. I want to see more fat black girls who were not afraid to exhibit their style as opposed to promoting fashion because they were paid to do so.

Do you blog full-time, for fun, as a hobby? Share your evolution!
I am a teacher and I love it. However blogging is my passion which to me is greater than a hobby. I consider myself a full time blogger because it occupies as much of my time as teaching does and although it doesn’t pay the bills, it does feed my soul.

What is your favorite asset? Your legs, arms, waist? How do you play that up?
One of my favorite assets is my waist. Although I have a F.U.P.A, my waist is small so high waist skirts and crop top look good on me. I also have great boobs so together, they create one hell of a look.

What are the challenges, if any, you face regarding being plus size?
I have medical concerns being that I am a breast cancer survivor and I have a genetic link to cancer. The fact that I have a lot of belly fat is not safe for me. However, I think that my comfort in the skin I am in makes it hard for me to commit to losing as much weight as I need to; that paired with fear.

What’s your favorite thing about being plus size?
I enjoy showing the world that I can be what you say I can’t be. I am happy, fabulous and fat… Who would have thought that this would be the truth of a plus size woman that was once a nerdy fat girl who faced all types of adversity?

Maui Bigelow of Phat Girl Fresh talks about FFFWeek on The Curvy FashionistaWhat’s your favorite thing about being a blogger?
I love that I am able to connect with so many women and provide a voice and a face for them.

Who/what are your favorite designers/brands?
I love love love Jibri! I am also a huge fan of a designer by the name of Wendy S. As far as brands go, Ashley Stewart, Lane Bryant, Eloquii and Simply Be are at the top of my list.

Describe your personal style.
My personal style is very bipolar. At times I am very bright and playful and others, I fade to black. I don’t care about brand names, I just like what I like and I love being different.

Which bloggers inspire you? Plus or straight size! Any bloggers currently on your radar?
I am inspired by so many bloggers but three of my favorites are; Marie Denee of the Curvy Fashionista, Ty Alexander of Gorgeous In Grey and Shaina Harrison of Out Of The Corner.

What do you think about where plus size fashion is today versus a few years back?
Plus size fashion has evolved a great bit over the years. I remember when we were fat and frumpy; now we are fat and fabulous!

What do you think or hear from readers, is one of the biggest myths about plus size fashion?
Lately a lot of women have been complaining about the availability of plus size clothing. Saying that “there are not enough nice quality clothes out there for us” and that “the stores don’t stock plus size clothing like they do standard size clothing.

However, I think that couldn’t be further from the truth. There are many great brands and options for curvy girls. When you go into store and there are just a few pieces available that is because fat girls are shopping. LOL

Are you working on anything or have anything to share? Anything else you want The Curvy Fashionista’s readers to know?
I have several projects that I am working on; one being PHAT Girl Fresh Presents Life Styled, a fashion and honors event held annually to celebrate the brand and to honor women who are… Passionate, Happy, Appreciative and True. This event is held in Atlanta, Georgia and will take place of May 14, 2016.
