Meet Sarah Rae of Ravings by Rae!!
What made you want to become a fashion blogger?
I started out as a lifestyle blogger, writing about food, family, and other randomness. I went to a conference and decided to snap a few photos of my outfits and post them to my site. I realized right away that not only did my readers love it, but I loved it too.
I love fashion and getting dressed up. I love photography.
And I love looking at myself all dolled up and strutting. Let’s be real, becoming a fashion blogger/vlogger was kismet.
What are the challenges, if any, you face in being plus-size?
Sometimes I have a problem filling out the top portion of my outfits. It seems like a lot of plus size clothing is made with the idea that the plus size girl inside of it is going to be busty, and… I am FAR from busty.
A double padded bra can usually solve that problem though. 😉
What’s your favorite thing about being plus-size?
My favorite part of being plus size is being able to spread positivity to a group of people who are constantly being told their bodies are wrong, being fat is wrong, and that they aren’t worthy of love.
I could spread this message as a straight size person, but the message carries a lot more weight when it comes from someone who is plus size.
What’s your favorite thing about being a blogger? A plus fashion blogger?
The community! I’m obsessed with other plus size fashion bloggers and their outlooks on life.
I feel grateful to be in such good company spreading this body positive message. Also, my viewers and readers are always SO complimentary, and it feels absolutely amazing when they tell me that I’ve inspired them to be more confident in themselves.
Who/what are your favorite designers/brands?
Versace. Versace. Versace.
Just kidding. I can’t afford that.
My go-to stores are Torrid, Fashion To Figure, Old Navy, and Target. But I have a LONG list of brands and designers I plan on checking out this year. The plus size fashion industry is booming and some of these designers are SO talented.
Describe your personal style.
My fashion blogger style is definitely on the sexier side with all the body con dresses and form-fitted EVERYTHING. But my everyday style is jeans, graphic tees, and yoga pants. I have two toddlers to chase around, so comfort is key.
Any bloggers currently on your radar?
I’m in love with so many bloggers. These ladies are killin’ it and I love seeing their beautiful faces and bodies floating around my Instagram feed on a regular basis. Some of my favorites are Essie (Golden Kaleidoscope), Kelly Augustine, Chante (Everything Curvy and Chic), Runa Azam (Glam By Runa), Nadia Aboulhosn, Rochelle (BeautiCurve), and Kristine (Trendy Curvy). I’m sure I’m missing some, but these ladies have been on fire!
Anything else you want The Curvy Fashionista’s readers to know?
If you want something, go get it. Don’t let the world tell you that you can’t have it. Everything is yours for the taking.
Aaand… if you’re ever in need of a confidence boost, I make Body+ videos on YouTube. 🙂
