What made you want to become a fashion blogger?
I’ve always been interested in fashion. In high school, I really wanted to become a designer. I later realized that my talent lies in the illustrating part of the process rather than the garment creation part. After high school, I listened to advice and I went to college.  I put the creative side of me on hold. Fast forward years later after becoming a mom and a wife, I felt like I was losing myself and I wanted to do something for me.

I always wondered if I was the only young plus size woman who loved fashion, who followed trends and who believed that high fashion should be for everyone.  I started researching and I came across Young, Fat, and Fabulous (now GabiFresh) and YouTubers like Fenise; however, it wasn’t a straight road to fashion blogging. I first chose YouTube because I knew nothing about blogging and it seemed intimidating, whereas for YouTube all I had to do was turn on my webcam. As time went on, I knew that I had to start a blog and so I did.

What are the challenges, if any, you face in being tall and plus-size?
Some of the challenges I face come from being in-between, sometimes being more plus size and other times not. Shopping at brick and mortar stores tends to be difficult just because since I fall at the end of the spectrum in non plus I typically can’t find my size.  The reverse can be said for plus size stores.

Another challenge I face is that being almost 5’8”, finding maxi dresses, ankle trousers, younger pants e.t.c that are the right length can be an issue. I also carry more weight around my hips and butt, so tailoring is also a factor. Another challenge I face is finding affordable shoes since many retailers do not carry size 11, especially in stores.

What’s your favorite thing about being plus-size?
My favorite thing about being plus is my shape, I love how I fill in my clothes and I like my proportions. I like the lessons being my size has taught me.  It’s taught me to be creative with my style, to persevere, to love myself first, and to rely less on others’ perspective of me.  People will always have opinions, and that’s okay.  We are all entitled to ours.

What’s your favorite thing about being a blogger? A plus fashion blogger?
My favorite thing about blogging is that it is something I can do entirely for myself and at the same time share with others. I love the fact that I can inspire others. Growing up I always felt like I didn’t fit in physically. I wasn’t petite, I wasn’t skinny, I didn’t have pretty hair, or the right complexion, and I didn’t get looked at by boys.

I am happy because I know that my blog empowers girls and women alike who are like me. It lets them know that they are beautiful and something to be cherished as they are and hopefully that everyone can be stylish.

Who/what are your favorite designers/brands?
Brands: ASOS, Dorothy Perkins, J. Crew,  Eloquii, Topshop, Simply Be, H&M, Forever21, Nordstrom, Nasty gal…..

Designers: DVF, Jimmy Choo, Christian Siriano, Rodarte, Alice & Olivia , Maki Oh, Mara Hoffman, FNR (Frock It Rock It), Chloe, Balenciaga…….

Describe your personal style.
I think I am very much a chameleon. My personal style changes all the time. However, I am also pretty practical (because I am a parent and my job requires me to spend a lot of time on my feet). If I had to whittle my sense of style down, I would say my style is classic with a twist because I love details and I like to stay abreast of the trends.
