Can Fashion and a Luxury Car brand be combined to create something out of this world? At the Lexus Design Disrupted show held at SIR Stage37 in midtown New York the two came together. Lexus hosted Made Fashion week and presented a never before seen live holographic performance art show.
It was distinctive and never seen before. You had the beautiful supermodel Coco Rocha who played the beautiful heroine. You had an exhilarating throw back from the archives of designer Giles Deacon. If you do not know who Giles Deacon is, he is a British Designer who used to work for big Fashion Houses like Bottega and Veneta. His designs are very spirited and fun. The entire show was inspired and was a celebration for the new Lexus 2014 IS Performance Sedan launch and hosted by ELLE creative director Joe Zee.
The show took 3D holographic technology and combined it with a narrative that was choreographed. The story is unique. The beautiful heroine must fight darkness to get to light. As she unleashes herself from the holds of darkness light and bright colors emerge and break free. It coincided with the new Lexus commercial. Filmmaker and Artist Andrew Thomas directed the production. The choreography by Ryan Heffington and the music original compositions by the rock band HEALTH.
It was a great night and a great show. I did find myself to be a little underdressed because I had a few shows that I had attended earlier that day and they were pretty casual. But luckily I was all in black (as I may have mentioned before when in doubt go with classic black). But it was still worth attending. One, because it was full of amazing celebrities that came out for this unique event and two because of the combination of fashion and Lexus the luxury vehicle brand.
It’s not like Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. Where their logo is seen everywhere and you know they are the sponsors of “THE” fashion week held at Lincoln Center every season. This was pretty unique because they were showcasing the luxury of the car alongside the luxuriousness of fashion through an innovative show. They sometimes go hand in hand. Sometimes it is all about status and fashion and cars give you just that!
The evening was star-studded with guests like Sarah Jessica Parker, Neil Patrick Harris, Mary Kaye Olsen, Ashley Olsen, Chrissy Tiegan and her fiancé artist John Legend.
